    Recording to HDD Space

    Hi

Does anyone know what happens when the box has to record something and the HDD has run out of space? does it automatically delete the old recordings or does the recording simply fail? for dreambox or any enigma2 box.

I had my dm800 over a year now and I still have 50gb out of 500gb hdd space, still haven't run out space so don't know what will happen.

As far as I'm aware it simply won't record anymore. Any scheduled recordings will fail once the hdd is full.

        hi

I agree with rizwan and bokkie - but believe it also depends on the hdd and the box itself (brand/type) - (when it'll stop recording and whether/with failure you will get).

Once your hdd is getting almost full, take your time to take some backups, or perhaps look for another extra hdd, or put some stuff in a dvd ...

I've tested this a few weeks ago with a connected hdd to a sat-receiver with pvr-funktion. The recording was stopped ~50MB (47 exact) before completely full but you can watch as if you have stopped it by yourself. I think all receivers do it the same way.

Such a plugin doesn't exist. How could it know what recording it should delete. Imagine your oldest recording is the most important for you and it's deleted automaticly. The "cleanup" of your hdd is your own job.

You either need to cleanup your hdd or get a drive with a larger capacity.
No such plugin exists as far as I'm aware.

                    Re: Recording to HDD Space

A possible way to go for a plugin in future may be that you are warned after the programming of the recording that the maximum time for recording is about two hours (but this depends on the bitrate of the recording). Under normal conditions the recording stops when your hdd is full without warning.
