If you have a look through this forum you will find all sorts of tutorials for the DM500s I used to have a DM500s and i used to use Open Pli as my image. You can use cccam with all the enigma 1 images. I tended to use cccam 2.14 as it was very stable and it worked fine for me. Eventually i went on to MGCamd 1.35 as i found it quicker than cccam

Your box is original or not? Some firmware like gemini could damage your box if it is a clone.
Than i suggest to use a maxvar kind of image, because this kind of images are done for the boxes with a few of memory, like the 500s.
I tryed sif image but i had some trouble with ethernet port configuration and it didn't work, instead the Pli maxvar for example is very good, stable and quickly with cccam

I work my dreambox 500s clone with OpenPLi-beta-dm500-maxvar-old-framebuffer- and work very well

I have got a dm500s sice january and tried diffrent images.
Plijade3 is the best firmware for the 500s in my opinion.
No bugs very stable works perfect.
Just give it a try

the best image will be the one you like.try several,there is no perfect image.one image is fast,another is stable and so on....
