    channel4 problem

    a few days ago a got a cline from a friend for a testing purpose. I mostly watch sky uk and there is a problem on channel4 and channel4+1 channels which is on 12480v.nd symbol on info bar gets green when I opened the channel but It simply doesnt get clear most time. On the other hand I am able to watch other channels (more4 etc.) with no problems. Is there a known reason for this. What can I do to watch channel4 and channel4+1

      the channel4 which I mention here is on 12480 v. antenna size is enough. I can watch it using satlover cline. but I cant open it with the cline which I get from a friend. interesting thing is I can watch other channels on same frequency (more4, E4, 4music etc). and I can watch all other channels but not these channel4 and channel4+1. very rerely it opens but completely freezes in 10 seconds.

      and yes I get all s1 beams and some 2b north beams. 2b beams are just above freezing limit. sometimes I get signal from 2b south and fixed beams but they are most time come with very high BER rate and they are freezing. I get all these with a very acurately aligned 90cm offset dish.

        Have you asked your friend whether their C4 is working on their system. It sounds like they have a problem and not you if you can get it on another cline from someone else. have you tried a satlover cline to see if that is the problem?

          on 28.2 E
          channel 4 SD is free to air (12480 V 2/3 27500)
          channel 4 HD is crypted

          channel4 +1 : free to air (10729 V 5/6 22000)

          Sky changes a lot frequencies, don't forget to regularly manual scan the satellite to have the up to date channels and correct frequencies on your receiver.

            He says he can get it with satlover cline so that makes me think it's the line he's using from his friend that's causing the problem and not anything about the channel itself.

              hi

              Not clear why you really want the channel 4's on 12480 V, when the others are FTA.
              Or are there different programs on this ones (Ireland)? I've been wandering this for some time now, but when I check (same for BBC and ITV) the programs are always the same on all different channels ...

                I watch Channel 4 quite a bit ( in Ireland) never noticed any difference in the programs on different frequencies.

                  I see you are getting astra 28e on a 90cm dish, what equipment are you using as i lived in Cyprus which is a similar distance from the uk and we had to use a minimum of 2.7m

                    I dont know whether card owner watch these channels without problems or not. I cant ask him at this stage for some reasons. but note that it rarely opens but completely freezes in a short time. and I remember that same thing happened in the past when I am using satlover c lines. but right now there is no problem with server4. so that makes me think problem source is in my 500s. maybe I made a change in a file in the past that causes that problem.

                    pan1100;

                    fta channels are on astra1n. I need at least 3-4 meters dish to catch the 1n's signal from where I live. and yes I think that programs are same. only ads are different.

                    runmo;
                    channels on 12480 are not fta. they are nds encrypted. 10729 is on astra 1n. I need 3-4 meters of dish to lock that freq.

                      Re: channel4 problem

                      Channel 4 is being telecast on 2 system. SD is FTA. HD is encrypted and you would need a sly white card which costs £20 for free to view users from a sly retailer.
                      You wuld really need a local card to watch the Channel 4 HD channel. Ask your friend if he has the local sly card with local activation?
