I read this on the Net.

There has been a lot of questions asked if the firewalling project can be done also for dreambox users. With properly configured IPtables, yes. but not all images have IPtables pre-installed, so you might have to find ways to install it on your box, or use PLI-image which has it already by default. you just have to turn it on from the blue panel.

My sugestions:
Change the dreambox password from your dreambox.
Enable firewall on your router(the default by most router is enable)

But if a good Hacker is behind you, he will get you.

I saw on the net that many attacks came from port 80? Is that true?

that is more likely that a hacker will use the default ftp port 21 and the telnet port 23
so i suggest that people close them

Your Answer is over menu->extension->webinterface
you will see the option to enable http autorisation. If you set it to true you will be prompt to set a new pwd .

your Dreambox is not interesting place at all for hackers since it doesn't support much greater server options and Clines possibilities as some Linux server for example.
Best option for someone that knows how to enter specific IP address and it's ports would be Linux server or some Win server under Linux simulation Distro as Vmware since it's easier to hack that.
i think that everybody with Dreamboxes doen't need to worry that much since their humble set up is not interesting at all for serious hackers!
Simply, better Dreambox password and closing of FTP and telnet ports as well as disabling DHCP, if it's just necessary, will do enough for most of you! So, don't bother!!!
Hehe It's not that you have Total TV or US Dish 95E, RSA and Box Key unpaired and decoded with dcw in ecm... Then you'd be interesting enough...

Yes, but no one would hack your box unless you have some really interesting stuff!
Of course it's not so difficult to enter it as well, unless you have protected it even by some basic means!
Most boxes are not interesting compared to servers, it's logical and proven by most cases of public leakage.
We can talk about this and that, but this is de facto de iure situation here.
