maybe try to flash with null cable the "erase" image, leave the dm offline for some hours and try to flash the dm again a safe image with null cable. If this does not help you must take the dm to service.

the DM500s has a 32 mb flash. That mean you don't need the erase image. I thing you only need DreamUp with null cable and a image your choise(like gemini).

            Hello dear predator

Maybe there is a power adaptor malfunction.

I have seen many boxes with similar problem.

This problem of power adaptor can be happened even in a new clone box.

Try a new one or better take an old from a friend to test it.

I had the same problem with power adapter as Kalpikos is speaking, DM500 was the case also. Damn Chinese ones!

Here in the Phils. is hot. So its common for our DMs to freeze when overheating. We put an external fan(Box fan) on top of the STB.

hi, ok seems logical, but after a few minutes is real quick.
Btw: not clear to me what (channel) freezing has to do with overheating??

PS @asmo: I as also replied in post _hxxp://***.satlover.eu/forum/dreambox-discussion-only/41898-problem-whit-my-dream.html#post228503 -> please give us a bit more info.

                    Re: freeze/reboot

Sometime activating too many lines in your box make it freeze and reboot. Try to activate as few lines as you can. One good line is better than 100 bad lines. Go through all your lines and remove as many as you can. When the lines are too busy then the box starts to freeze and then reboots.

Over heating is not good for any electronic component therefore over heating may cause intermittent fault on the tuner leading to freeze.

Do you have a hard drive connected? Could be a power issue.

It doesn't matter if it's FTA or encoded channel as it is Tuner that freezes as said above, not the decoder. Inputting some cooler fan in the dreambox will solve the problem for most of users...!
I installed Ibm's laptop cooler inside my DM 800 HD PVR and find myself in much better situation vis'e vie rec freezing on some 24 hour run time.
It will not freeze itself if it's used few hours a day but if you leave it some 12 h or more, expect some things to happen...

Also Rev M. new tuner is a way to go, since it gives better signal strength on most of the channels especially HD ones!
If someone is interested I have all the infos with photos on how to install laptops cooler into dream 800 and connect it to Scart + an - connections so you can have it's TURN ON and OFF just on your remote control.
QUite easy, just needed two soldering with scart pins and off you go.
My dream on most demanding channels was cold ever since ...
