Dreambox 800HD se (does it need M Tuner?)

Hi guys, I'm new to this field and have owned a Dreambox 500s for a few months. Im upgrading now to a HD receiver but am a bit confused as to whether to get a Dreambox 800HD or 800se (will be clones).

Im purchasing from a recommended seller (Tony Zhou) and have received a few email replies to my query. I've heard that to ensure picture stability on HD channels, these receivers require the latest M Tuner? Is this true? Or can I order it with the standard tuner? (been told its a boardcom tuner)

Before ordering i need some advice as Tony has told me that if I want the M Tuner fitted to a 800se, the back panel would be different. Im not sure what he meant by this. This is his reply:

    "The normally dm800se is bcm450 tunner . Rev M tunner is for dm800hd .

the tunner back cover is different for this 2 kind.

you need dm800se with m tunner , it is not same tunner cover."

Can anyone give me advice on which to purchase?

    Thanks guys!!!

In my experience M. tuner is required. If DM800 SE have tuner which can cover the high symbol range, then there is no problem.

i have read that the M tuner supports symbol rate 295000 witch the hd channels use
so hd channels are now glitch free.

In my case L.tuner not supporting the s/rate of 40000 while M. tuner supports that. But I never try yet

            DM800HD SE - BCM4505 DVB-S2 tuner
            DM800HD - ALPS 801A VERSION M DVB-S2
Depending on the model are standard tuners

Of course that is best BCM4505 tuner. Some clones are available with different tuners. And if you want specific usually slightly higher price. If you want I can give you contacts of which I bought several years and I have not had any problems.

Thanks alot guys for your replies, very useful and helpful.

I've got the tuner from Tony with the tuner i mentioned, although I havent had chance to set it up and run it yet to see how it performs.

However I did plug it in and try a satellite search with no success and got 2-3 green screens then it wouldnt boot at all. It had an Allrussian image on it when i received it(?). I had to reflash it and it seems to be working ok now althought only had a play with it for an hour or so. Its a hell of alot more complex box and software than my trusted old Dreambox500s, so i've got a bit of research and learning to do all over again!!

PS - anyone wishing to purchase from Tony I can at least recommend his delivery and prices, was delivered within 5-7 days.
