ping test on dreambox

anybody knows a way to test internet speed on dreambox like we do in pc for excample
run ping www.******.com -t ????????
Any info would be appriciated.

connect wiht putty on your drembox.

Hi vecchia_signora, putty program is a program like Hyperterminal to check connectibity on the network.
In Win7 Hyperterminal doesn't exist, so you have to take the third part called "putty"

Sorry for my english, putty is a collection of program to check Terminal server connection, URL connection,Terminal emulation.
Try to take it and install. For sure ping is the simply mode to check connectivity and latency from your router and the cline server.
I hope this will be more clear now.

Is there a link or a name of these programms?

Download: putty

http://the.earth.li/~sgtatham/putty/latest/x86/putty.exe

Then input ip from your dreambox and click open.

In the black window you will be asked user and pw.

user: root
pw : root

sorry for missunderstood but i needed a plugin to test internet connection in dreambox by remote control not by my pc.

If i not mistaken there is no such plugin.
You can only test your internet speed via pc and router.

The only thing that you can check from your receiver is if you have internet connection or not-- blue button..setup...download... if you can see downloads (plugins etc) you are ok.

On the other hand I think that the speed that have your pc when ping an adress is the same with your dreambox.

That is beacuase both of them are connected to the same router and have to share the same speed.

Alternatevely, I use telnet session.
In Windows with telnet service installed (Almost 95% of PC with windows system has this service enabled), press Start and start a DOS shell (select prompt of programs menù).

In the DOS shell type the command
telnet IP_ADDRESS_DECODER and press enter
Then enter user name and password.
If they are correct, you are logged to the decoder.

Now every command you type is execute from inside the decoder.

So if you type
ping www_******_com
you will see how the decoder works with the net.
