Hi all could do with a tut on connecting my dm500s to my laptop via a router .

what are you trying to do here,
you can by ftp into your box, i am assuming that you are copying files to your box
put your dm500 IP into ftp client , username and password ,
and you are connected !!!
simple as that .

If you just want to write to your DM500s, then its just as Sahilkhan says with FTP such as DCC.
If on the other hand you want to upload an image then,
-shut down your DM500s
-press the power botton while you plug in power for about 5 seconds.
Upload image with DreamEnum_0.90 (which automatically does everthing for you) or type your dm500s IP in explorer and upload image.

To begin with it is necessary to establish assignment of DHCP addresses in a router, then to check up what IP the address it is appropriated DM then to come on the given address on FTP through Total

Sorry for not making myself clear peeps. What i would like to do is use the harddrive on my laptop as a pvr for my dreambox.
