The best way is to install a FTP client in your XP.
Then you just access your dream with this ftp client.

other solution is telnet of course.
You just run under XP the command :
    telnet IP_of_the_dream

Got ftp working no trouble thanks and tried telnet, that connected fine and gave me busybox v1.01. What is busybox and is it on the dreambox or the pc.

You would have to have an SMB share enabled on a HDD attached to or inside the DBox. Might even work on a USB big enough.

Once the share is set up and running you will able to browse to it from your XP box and it should then show up also in my network place.

DCC is just too much specilised from dream.
And can't find a version for Linux OS.
But FTP is universal protocole .

Why don't try "Filezilla" for Linux ?

When trafering files from PC to Dream
just go to memenu /Transfer/transfer Type
                            and select 'Binary'

It is possible to adjust access on a network through NFS the client, it can be loaded through plug-ins in Drime then in a network environment to appear the label
