    Re: ip adress changing

What type of Internet connection do you use? If you do not have a static IP address, you can use _http://www.dyndns.com/ It might help.
    Best Regards.

        Re: ip adress changing

If your router or receiver reboots, the router will not necessarily allocate the same IP address to the receiver each time if you have DHCP enabled.

To keep the same IP address on the receiver you either need to give it a static IP address, or on the router allocate a reserved address for the reciever.

Personally I use reserved IPs on the router as you can manage all the addresses from 1 place.

Try removing the tick on the DHCP box in setup, expert setup, communications setup. Then you can give the box an ip that always stays the same.

You should be able to log into the router and assign a fixed IP to the dreambox (usually you set it up so that a certain address gets a certain IP).

Have a poke around in the router settings and see if it's an option.

That makes it sound like a fault with the router. DHCP is supposed to work like that

The router will allocate an IP address to each device on the network that requests one from the defined range available to the router.

But, if you need to access your receiver by IP address, e.g. using telnet, ftp or web interface, setting a static or reserved address is a good idea as you always know what IP address it will have.

you have to adjust the router in his setup.
Every time the router connects or (re)starts, it gets a new ip, so dont let your router restart or reconnect.
                Please push thanks.

use dyndns.com as it allows you to point a hostname to a dynamic or static IP address or URL.

If using a router to disable DHCP and DNS to include the assignment and IP address manually, and manually set the subnet mask and default gateway, then enter the information in the LAN Settings on the receiver

                        Re: ip adress changing

I get the impression the al666 is talking about inside IP Address (LAN) and not Outside (WAN)

For my 2 cents worth, I would say Set Router up to issue DHCP, in the range of 192.168.0.2 - 192.168.0.250 and reserve an IP Address for your Dreambox, very easy to do, and your DM500 will always get the same IP Address. All you need to do is get the MAC Address of your DM500 and add that in the Router config.
The MAC Addres will be printed on the Box of the DM500 on the underside, or the back, and looks something like this 00:48:21:0A:33:26
IN your Router you just assign that MAC Address to always use 192.168.0.22 ANd on your DM you keep it as DHCP.

As for the second part the only one to recommed is the Premium Server here!

Out of all the posts on this subject that is the most useful and logical one to recommend, as that is exactly what i do reserve an address.

Most households now have various wi-fi and hard wired lan connections so if you where to knock off DHCP then you would have to manually assign every item in the household its own ip address.

Much easier to just do the one.

                            Re: ip adress changing

Just let your Router like it is with the DHCP because it is by default enabled. The look at your PC address (most it is 192.168.1.x something like that the last digit is different on most PC) .

Go to your Box in the Network menue and disable DHCP. Now put any manuall address from this range.

                            exp. PC has address 192.168.1.11
                            Box assigned IP address 192.168.1.12
                            Box Default Gateway 192.168.1.1
                            Box Subnet mask 255.255.255.0

Just donīt use the same IP address for PC and your Box because it want work.

I hope that I helped you.
