Thanks for your advice i have tried the diagnostic tool and because the HD does not spin it does not see the HD to check for faults and says no HD connected

You can only do that if you have a working pc or laptop or go to a mates who has a dock to check
No working PC is like having all your teeth pulled out with plyers

Recently, I had a HDD that I thought that was dead, because when I connected it to a pc nothing happened.
I used a special tool for recover and suddenly the HDD it was alive.
It could not recognized by the system but the recovery tool could see the disk.

For the history, I took all my data and sent it to seagate because it was in warranty.
After 2 weeks the disk was back with all my data untouched.

If you put your hdd into a dock on another PC.
if hdd can be read your ok, if it does not show then you will have to open disc management to see if the hdd can be read, if it does not show you will have to connect up to the data connection and run a flash or bios to the hdd
you cannot run disc recovery on a hdd that is dead. put in a dock or spare connection inside your pc and see if it spins up you will feel if it spins, but if it spins and clicks goto the nearest dusbin and deposit it there
PS if it clicks you can try the freezer leave in a antistatic bag overnight and freeze it put into a dock you may get 10 to 20 mins to read the disc to recover any vital data, also seal the bag so no moisture gets in

if so, it seems to be such a hardware electronic / mechanic problem ...

if it start to rotate, but is not recognized, this might be analysed deeper with appropriate tool such partition checker ...

The hard drive spins for a few seconds then clicks then stops i have read about putting it in the freezer for a quick fix a bit unsure about that has anybody ever tried this and did it work

1.- start linux ( such a live distro)

2.- start [FONT="Courier New"]partitionmanager[/FONT] or [FONT="Courier New"]kparted[/FONT] or [FONT="Courier New"]gparted[/FONT] or [FONT="Courier New"]
sudo blkid -p /dev/sdb1
sudo blkid -i /dev/sdb1

to test the partition disk

Nothing will work if your drive is dead.
People think if they have a terra byte or even 3 or more drive they are the bee's knee's
they are deluding themselves if it dies they have lost everything.
Like it has been said before, buy a 120 ssd then get some 50 to 100 gig drives, they are going for peanuts as everyone thinks they should have a mega big drive.
Use one for your music one for data 2 or 3 for vids, if one crashes you still have most of your data.

The solution of freezer doesn't sounds to me very good.
I think that you will cause bigger damage to HDD.

Don't risk in this way your data or even your disc.
Go to a your friend and try to connect it to a pc with internal connection , not with usb, and run a special tool for recovery.

I have tried it in another pc on a internal connection as a slave drive then run the seagate recovery tool it connects the main drive but not the slave

When I was doing computer courses some years ago, one of the suggestions for testing the HDD was to put in in the fridge overnight, as it will cost you nothing to try other than a seal-able plastic bag ( type used for freezers) I think it is worth checking.

I have been doing a lot of reading about this subject it seems that there has been a lot of trouble with this samsung hard drive high fail rate and no fix so i tried the freezer trick it did not work for me it seems its the circuit board that is the problem

If you own a legal Win7 license you can download it and reinstall legally, if you are in warranty you can ask HP for a disk which they must provide as part of the license agreement. You can also legally download various dos based programs , provided you have access to a spare pc, which may be able to boot your computer and repair the partition. Samsung will probably have one.
You could also consider booting from a USB stick
As for SSD , yes they are now professionally reliable.
I however use SSD as a boot drive and HDD as data storage, simply for cost reasons.
A 256GB SDD is around £80 but a 2TB HDD is £50...

I have seen people taking the circuit board from other HDD with the same characteristics but with other problem and put it into their own.

In some cases it works but in some others it doesn't.
The difficult part in this is to find the same HDD and take the main board from it.

You never know...
Maybe you are lucky :)
