Re: hard drive failed
Hello
I'm sorry for your HDD and your data.
For many years I use seagate HDD and all my data are alive and safe so far.
I'm using the green series and I don't have any problem until now and proved very reliable. If You Like My Post..... Please Press the Thanks ButtonComment

- hp, medion, apple: i saw live issues where all those famous brand died suddenly
whitout prior strange behaviour
i have no rule to give
- win 7: fairly easy to install :
if w7 exclusive : use an unique partition for os and data
if w7 + another os : i propose this:
- 30 .. 50 gb for w7
- the remaining for another partition
- you'll need the genuine w7 dvd
the process will create
the first hidden partition for the ms multiboot
the second partition for ms w7 os + data
...
the last partition for the ms w7 rescue tool
+ if you want to install linux with multiboot, i suggest then
define a 15gb for linux ( os (4gb) + packages + some data )
with linuxmint or opensuse:
__www.linuxmint.comm/download.php
__software.opensuse.org/131/en
the linux install process will automatically install a grub multiboot
compatible with win7 + linux + win7.rescue
then call pkgmanager to intall your favorite package
enjoy :)Comment

... so :
driver: ok
win7: not ok
well, welcome to ms better world !
you've probably bought such a OEM ms win7 licence,
which is attached to your bought hardware
if you change your hardware, the OEM licence decay
and you have no more the legal ms win7 licence
this is sad,
just as ms has make it
this is their better world ...

Re: hard drive failed
Really good been running one for ages it is a Kingston 120 gig that is all you need no fancy terra byte stuff so you lose everything if it crashes.
Use a dock and hdd and download to that.
£50 pound could be cheaper nowComment

Re: hard drive failed
thecrazybandit, as it is not allowed to talk about crak etc, drop me a PM and i will send you windows 7 ultimate with license. You can install windows 7 with a USB stick or burning it on a DVD. If you have the money, go for a SSD disc as it will give you better startup and overall performance, but HDD will do the job perfect for you also, especially with a new and fresh windows 7 installation.Comment

Re: hard drive failed
Was it Samsung?
Suggest to work on Sea.gate or Wes.tern Dig.ital.
Using them for years. Even the one I took out from laptop to put to stationary is still working fine.Comment

Re: hard drive failed
@thecrazybandit
Are you sure that your HDD is dead?
Did you try any utility from Samsung for recovery?
I suggest you to go here:
Go to product support and find your HDD.
Then, download the diagnostic tool that checks the health of your HDD.If You Like My Post..... Please Press the Thanks ButtonComment
