Which anti-virus do you recommend?

I've been using Microsoft security essentials, but seems flaky at times, picked a trojan yesterday which was a mission to get rid of, but did in the end.

What do you use, recommend and why?

I have used Kaspersky Internet Security for quite a few years now, always seems to work well and keeps 3 computers free from problems. Certainly would recommend it.

hi guys

I've been using avast (free) for some years now on my pc's/laptops.

Used several others before (free and paid), most disadvantages were slowing the pc down and the yearly cost. Used eg Norton, Kaspersky, McAfee, Pccillin, Panda, AVG and probably some others - as said: sticking with avast for now.

As @thecrazybandit said: best also use some complementary program such as Malwarebytes, HiJackThis, Ad-Aware, ...

One of the main problem with AV programs is that they slow down the computer. i have used AVG in the last years, and it is doing its job and not making computer slow. If you do get virus, or doing a clean up on a computer, you should use malwarebytes anti malware as it is the ONLY one i see that finds absolutely every malware/virus on a computer.

Do you think that seem to do a good job if I use AVG & MSE together?

Hello my friend.

I recommend ESET Smart Security 7.
I have been using it for some time and I am very satisfied.
I am also satisfied with previus version of ESET Smart Security, but the latest version makes the difference.

I have used many antiviruses so far, free and paid.
The major disadvantage of free antiviruses is that they don't provide what they really promise in comparison to the paid antiviruses.

I agree. With my old pc I had some slowdown, but now that I have a powerful CPU and a lot of RAM it's doing great!

i personnally should recommend to consider
linux as a powerfull ms antivirus:

as he succeeds to wrap out a large spectrum of various viruses
including windoze itself

:D

I use F-Secure.
It is not a free program but my ISP pays the licence for me.
My ISP is mainly a big load of nerds so they do know what to pick for their customers and keep their network virusfree.

dear zitraig if your pc has enough power use avira or avast free with basic shields only

if you need something lighter use bitdefender or panda cloud antivirus engines:)
