Interesting that you say Windows 8 is terrible, when I bought my Laptop I had the option to update from Windows 7 but, decided to stay with it. I have my old Desktop running XP and still use it every day. I will not be in any rush to dispose of either, will maybe think about moving to an Apple sometime in the future as I really believe that Microsoft has lost the plot and are now at a stage where they are introducing a new O/S without really sorting out the one they have.

So I take it from this that windows 8 has been a failure because original plan
from MS was to just bring out updates for win 8, I would like to say win 8.1 is
not a bad os I've been using it and it is quicker than win 7 though I do not use
the tiles but prefer the quick launch bar at the bottom.:)

I never did like windows 8 and with windows 9 coming soon i guess it has been a big failure

Not true.

The only thing that gets updates for xp after that date is updates for security essentials (the internal visursscanner from XP) for also just a LIMITED time.

Support has to stop someday for all OS-ses, or do you think you can still get a critical update for windows 2 or for DOS 3.0 ?

But if you have XP running on a virtual box completely isolated in its own sandbox you can run it without any problems for some more decades.

Its a real shame I liked XP but the latest upgrades to it slowed my old Toughbook. 7 is fine but it sounds like 8 was another Win ME.

My pc's are on win7,(downgraded from win 8 after 2 monts)
I dont use xp but its was a good os.

the fact is that atm is not xp exclusive

and those major banks do have proprietary atm terminal systems
to comply with industry standards

just because ms is well knowed as being potentially virus infected
and so, not reliable for sensitive purposes

:) This is very normal...

I know many people who installed win 8 in their pcs and after a reasonable period of testing (1 month) they reinstall win7 because win8 it's not very user friendly.
