Password Mozilla Firefox.... If only i knew this before

I recently faced a problem on my PC.
One of my PC crashed, no way to recovery the system except reinstalling the SO.
But in the browse i had all the password to my mails and to login to my usergroups.

Of course ... no backup and i didn't remember none of the passords.

So i decided, to copy all Documents and setting folder to external HD, starting the PC with a live linux.

Then i reinstalled the win SO, and again i restored the document and setting folder... my hope was-- "have again the account restored in mozilla".

Now, let's the reader himself guess if this procedure concluded positively.

Of course no.

I restarted browsing the net to find a solution.

After several weeks, i found that mozilla save all the data to "profiles" folder.
So i restored from my external HD only the original profiles exported from my crashed system.

To get where is the profiles path, open the dos prompt and type in

%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

this is the path where mozilla saves the files that contain the encripted password.

Finally, i get again all my password and all my account restored.

I hope this may help someone else.

Firefox saves all its stuff here, I mean all user settings, bookmarks, history, cookies, passwords etc.etc.
But inside this directory you may find more than one profile, all named with different and random names. Only one is your "true" profile.

That is truth.

Infact in my system crashed I had severals "profiles", for different accounts.

To restore my account i copyed one by one folder "profiles", to my new system.

I also realized that the files in the folder "profiles" are SQLLite structured.
The data inside are encripted, with key.

But the key used to descript is inside the DB3.key file.

Anyway, copying the file with the DB3.key include let to move the account to another PC

Also can always use a free program called vpmail, which tracks mail passwords and displays your team to recover.
