It is a free upgrade and you don't need a microsoft email, as I stated before.

Just a bit more user friendly. Return of the start button, boot to desktop and can now resize, tabs is a few changes.

I took a week with the one installed on one of my computers, and the truth that every time I am more happy with it, besides the multiple free applications out there for the same

It took me a day and a half to get it running properly and to find drivers for my scanner, it kept freezing a quad core PC with plenty of RAM. My friend got an onscreen message saying 'Update will complete in two days' ! I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually but I am going to keep 7 on my laptop.

If you put the appropriate drivers, is perfect and very fast, unless you have a gma 3500 that does not support intel.

Windows 8 is vastly different to windows 7, and I like the route it has taken.
But the fact that I use my tablet so much might attribute to this.
The whole windows 8/touchscreen experience really appeals to me.

Has anyone tried the new win 8.1? I am using win 8 after 7 years working on mac and microsoft is starting to catch up apple.

I would have thought Microsoft passed Mac years ago. purely unchained system that you can use for what ever you want without being told what to do,
Microsoft does have some drawbacks but nothing is yet perfect

Got to agree ,Apple is on the back foot with their OS, though that doesn't mean Microsoft is ahead,as Google / Android are making great progress.
