Win 8 is easier on your hardware than win7 it runs through programs a lot easier 7 is a ball ache, from telling you that your hard drive is going to crash and it seems to crunch it way through what ever it is doing watch your processor output it is struggling all the time. and 8 is easier on your upfront ram. forget about the metro and what ever crap that you do not need if running on a proper pc.

People shouldn't compare win 7 and win 8 side by side. Win 7 is typical continuation of old "windows" idea that Bill Gates introduced with few more bells and whistles. Win 8 meant to bridge the gap between pc and tablets, so called one fits all solution. As people may be aware that cant be a good idea but MS decided to try it thinking that it will help them to sell their tablets but we all know how it ended up. :D

You could say it was brave ,trying to ,or succeeding in , combining a desktop and mobile system. I would love to risk Win 8 to see how apps run within the RT section, but it is too much of a risk.
I disagree with you my friend

Win8 is a better OS than win7 but people there in MS was a little hurry to issue a new win version.
Win8 is a very stable and fast OS, but has some things that disappoint all people that believe in windowns:)
Perhaps you are right, but I think WinXP has been the most ever best O.S. of MicroSoft history, so Win7 was the second. But Vista and now Win8 are rare and difficult to use, if you have not a touch screen.
This is the reason why they are going to launch another one version, sure.

Best regards kalpikos.

They would be very brave to move away from touch or diverge again , I suspect it most likely that there will be an option to turn off all touch features and return to the classic shell.

Is clear that Android O.S. is the touch screens leader, so MS decided to create an option with his Metro interface, but this is useful only for touch screens, and PC's usually have no touch screens.
Tablets are IOS (apple) or Android(Google) and there are not so much devices with Win8 implemented.
PC users have no much advantages to use Win8 in front of Win7. Windows 8 desk is hidden and there is no start button.
Win7 is very stable and quickly so Win8....Why?
The next release will be to return to the past, so why waste money to implement Win8?
Win Me, Win Vista, Win8, microsoft failures.

Best regards.

I personally think win 8 was a great initiative that should be mostly targeting tablets and phablets. Mistake was to try to create universal solution that would fit all devices.

Yes, Dimus you are right.
But in the future they should create different platfrorms for each market.
The good old normal windows os for laptops and desktop pc's. Windows phone for phones and a other good thing for tablets.
Win 8 is in my eyes a flop, too difficult and not made for all consumer's.

PC and tablets are too different worlds, and also 99,9% of PC haven't touch screen, so win8 isn't users friendly

One reason why a pc system will never be touch only is the advent of smart tv and tv's used as pc's ., it is more like that they will be used with wireless keyboards, mouse or gesture gloves or wii type controllers in the future rather than touch. I wouldn't want to touch a brand new tv and leave mucky finger marks, its bad enough on a phone screen..

Re: "New" windows 8 to be released next month

Windows 8.1 Blue may be just around the corner, with a likely reveal in June, and Windows 8 may very well be saved by the update alone.

As Information Week put it in a Saturday, May 18 analysis of Window 8 hopes, Microsoft may first of all likely get a boost from:

5. Implementing specs/features such as the new Intel chips and better battery life.
"Intel's Haswell core chips should be shipping inside Windows 8.1 devices by this fall," Information Week suggests. It also adds that those who might have been disappointed by poor battery life when it comes to the Surface Pro line, Haswell is also working on "improvements in power management."
This may grant us tablets or hybrid tablets such as the Surface Pro line and Sony Ultrabooks (running on Windows 8) that can work as high-powered laptops with the ability to run all day on a single battery charge.
"Intel's chips are also expected to facilitate thinner, lighter form factors, and to deliver improved graphics performance -- perfect for the high-density screens that will be common on the next round of high-end, Surface Pro-like machines," Information Week says, adding too that Intel said the new processors are twice as powerful as the current ones and are on the way later this year.

4. Cheaper Windows 8-powered devices.
One of the big problems with Windows 8-powered Surface Pro devices is that they are super-expensive at nearly $900 a pop. Haswell has reported that the new Ultrabooks will likely be closer to $600 and Windows 8-powered Atom tablets could be half that according to Engadget.

3. More variants and touchscreens, too.
"Windows 8 struggled partially due to a lack of elegance in the new interface," Information Week says. "But a lot of that bad buzz came from people who ran the OS without a touchscreen."
Later this year, we should be seeing on shelves at stores everywhere far more Windows-8 powered devices that integrate touchscreens for better usability, according to Information Week, which reminds us too that we may see such size variants as 30-inch hybrids and 7-inch Surface devices as early as next summer.

2. Revisions made for Windows 8.1 UI.
We've already mentioned a lot of Windows 8's success is based largely on how well many of the revisions we need will be implemented in the new Windows 8.1 Blue.
"Many of the tweaks, such as the ability to resize and customize Live Tile sizes, are small but welcome," Information Week says. "Others, such as an improved Snap Views function that allows up to four Metro apps to be displayed simultaneously, are more functional. Other changes include deeper Sky Drive integration, Internet Explorer 11 and support for new touch gestures."

1. Closing the "App Gap."
We talked to both folks at Nokia and Microsoft itself about the dreaded "App Gap," which is the euphemism for the fact that Microsoft just doesn't have the vast number of apps offered by rivals Google and Apple.
But as both Nokia and Microsoft told us, it's not always about quantity, and the fact remains that Nokia in particular has some pretty killer exclusive apps for its Windows 8-powered Lumia phones alone.

8.1 almost here, but it seems it will be more of the same.
In my opinion, who wants to work sticks with win7, and who wants to "play" sees win8 with good eyes. Just as simple as that.
I just hope that MS make a good old proper working OS in the next generation.

The problem for many people is that we are used to work with the ''normal'' windows as we know it in win 95,98,200,me,xp,vista and 7. Win8 is nice to use on tablets but for the normal use it is really dissapointing.
I think I will never get used to win8.

But hey win xp was a hit, win vista a flop , win 7 a hit , win 8 flop in my eyes and you all know what comes now ;)

I think windows 8.1 will be a failure as well so maybe they will go to windows 9 and go back to the old method
