Re: "New" windows 8 to be released next month

Corporate users will use this "beautiful" 8 for they have no choice.
    Typical scenario(like in my company)
We have a subscription from M$
We are buying 8 licences, like we were buying 7 licences before.
Then downgrade to xp and work with this.
That's absolutely clear for me that XP is the best MS OS and killing it is a business matter only - they need to sell new products
When this schema will be forbidden we will be forced to use 8 (or 9 -xxx)
And even I like CIO cannot do nothing with it, even though I am using Ubuntu myself and consider Ubuntu much more looks like an Operating system then win7 and above.

will homogenize all Users are recommended to use it conveniently, without having to use a touch screen, so if there are many drivers that are not supported and many peripherals, are going to become obsolete

The reason I think they will charge is because they are calling it windows 8.1
and not service pack 1, I remember when win98 became win98se, M$ have
publicly stated they want to get into annual upgrade cycle if that is the case I
can not see them doing that free of charge. I really would like to be wrong in
this matter and hope win 8.1 is just a service pack and M$ will be generous.

I agree, they want to get into Apple world where they charge fee for adding few more features under umbrella of incremented version of OS X and that is released on yearly cycle, providing constant cash flow. That would be healthier approach than current 5 years cycles with tons of Service Packs.

The true is that they really don't know what to do:D
Nobody is happy in MS with win8.
The changes will be only in start button and metro.
It's something that you can do now with other applications.
I think it will be an update for those people how want to changed them
and maybe this could be done through windows store.
so, I believe that it will be free of charge.

The upgrade will have to be free for Win 8 users, it is too soon since the last release, it would be mad to charge.

Microsoft has announced that Windows Blue will be a free update to Windows 8 dubbed "Windows 8.1".

Tami Reller, CMO and CFO of Microsoft Windows, made announcement at J. P. Morgan investor conference Tuesday morning: "It's an update, which is why it's called Windows 8.1".

A test version is expected to be available to public n late June.

Re: "New" windows 8 to be released next month

Windows 8 doesn't give us nothing better than Win7. The interface metro is only designed to touch screens but is not useful traditional pc's.
So on, start button has dissapeared and Windows users can't use Win8 as well as they did before.
So, Microsoft have decided to keep start button on the screen because they know Win8 will be another unsuccessful O.S. like Vista was.

                      Best regards.

There's allready software to put start button back for current w8 and it works well. No need for touch screen anymore this way for normal use. But would be indeed a good move from microsoft to reinclude start button standard

I disagree with you my friend

Win8 is a better OS than win7 but people there in MS was a little hurry to issue a new win version.
Win8 is a very stable and fast OS, but has some things that disappoint all people that believe in windowns:)

Have to say that I find Win 7 incredibly stable, I have never had a crash full stop, now I still prefer XP but that is due to size and familiarity. Win 8 reminds me too much of ME which was Win 8 + a few Win XP test features. It was good as all 95 - 98 programmes worked as did some XP only features but was too much of a half way .

Lets see what 8.1 has to offer.
