"New" windows 8 to be released next month

Microsoft announced that they will release a major update to Windows 8 next month. After all bad feedback users may see some key elements to change one of them is Windows button comeback. Some people compared it to "New Coke" fiasco that happend 30 years ago to Coca-Cola company.

Microsoft representatives are trying hard to defend it saying it has nothing to do with that, they don't bin windows 8 they simply listened to users feedback and adjusting accordingly the "recipe". :D

The start button is sure to return as will an option to disable the app screen.
I don't see what the overall problem people have with Windows 8 is though. At the end of the day it is more or less identical to Win 7 with an App front screen, it is actually less demanding hardware terms than 7 , which is what a lot of manufacturers moaned about.

Many people say windows 8 is not successful but if the company was not MS
selling 100 million licences would be regarded has a enormous success.

the plan seems to work for microsoft even if the win8 does not leave happy most of the users. they sold a lot for laptop and pc and the move into the phone market were the game seems lost. lets hope they do some good fix on the win8 for all the serious people that uses them.

I have to say despite having a mac, I still need to use windows on VMs a lot so hoping they sort the windows 8 shambles out... still sticking to windows 7 for now.

I personally was always amongst the first few to switch to new Windows version, one of luxuries to have MSDN license, but when Win 8 was released I did hold off and still using win 7 as I don't like the idea behind win 8. It might be good for use on tablets or phones but somehow I can'd see myself using it on my laptop being an advanced user. Tried it coupled of time on friends laptops and still not impressed.

                This is absolutly normal
The first thing that someone do with a win 8 pc is to disable metro in order
to go directly to destop and to install an application that brings back the start button.
So, Microsoft undrestand that and reliese a "new" version of windows.:D

I personally think it is just a way for M$ to make more money.:p
This will be the first in a yearly cycle of upgrade for windows and each time they
will have something that will annoy the users so they can't wait to upgrade as
M$ will say we have listened to users and fixed problem.:D
Even though upgrade cost may be low it is something M$ should be offering for
free just as an update instead of upgrade.

Nice, I didn't knew there was a way of doing that, now probably will wait and see what "new" version will bring.

Regards win 8 and bringing back start button, what's the point? Shouldn't win 7 be better if someone wants to bring back same functionality, unless we're talking about people who had to use win 8 as part of bundle with their laptops.

Re: "New" windows 8 to be released next month

From my view, if we could make new windows under 1GB who work super well on dual core processors , i would say that it is what people do need really.

Why the windows of todays do take GB's on hard disks for do what they do ???
Or better say, why do we need Windows who occupy a lot of GB for go to the net and see the mails and few other programs ?

We keep going with a lot of RAM a lot of Hard Disk, super processors but at the end i find that actual pc's are as good as my other one who had XP with a 500Mhz single processor and 1024mb of ram

We should first , make the evolution of Hardware with actual OS for have an OS with more speed, more capacity for doing things.

Imagine : If we could fit XP on pc of todays with 4Gb of RAM , i believe it would be great ! :D

But nowdays , it seem that if we could have Petaflops drives with petaflops of RAM , then windows would ocupy a good number of Petaflops for go to the net and see mails. What's the point ?

What Mahrkpat says is true, the sales have been tremendous, but many of those are preinstalled. The computer manufacturers pay a fraction of the cost you and I do for the full version. I can't see another paid version coming out, unless it is like WinME was to 98 , a mere paint change and a few test features. Mind you that is what 8 feels like, win 7 + a few test features , anyone thinking beta version !

Depends how they gonna market it. Is it going to be a free upgrade or paid version incremental, like we have in OS X. I'd bet on the latter.

i bet the upgrade will be for free or for a very small fee like $5-10. anyway the win8 were the cheaper so far and this is what made the crazy sales. when did Microsoft give us (before win8) a full OS with support for so little money? thats why i think they are just trying to be a part of the game that they are loosing. just look at the numbers going down on pc-laptop and the numbers going up on tablets anf smartphones. that is the Microsoft target.
