****** Glass (Explorer Edition)

I know it's not Windows but ,sorry I didn't find where to put this thread.

It's a good news, the google glass are finally to come out (1500$)
It will be the Explorer edition and the website is very nice to check what concretely can do the glass.
hxxp://www.google.com/glass/start/
"We've been working hard on the Glass Explorer Edition and we have great news: the hardware and software are now ready for you," the Glass Team wrote in the e-mail. "We're seeing the first few devices come off the production line right now."
Instead of waiting for all of the devices to be ready at the same time, Google is shipping them to developers in batches. "We're producing enough for everyone, but only a portion of them are ready today. Therefore, we'll be notifying you in waves," Google wrote.
The official video is impressive

Re: Google Glass (Explorer Edition)

There are always cheaper version available for almost everything. But think if you see people around wearing google glasses, it would just feel out of this world.
This Big question is that Who is ready to invest $1500??
It is impossible to say with certainty that Google Glass will be a huge success that rivals rush to copy. It’s also far too early to predict a flop. If I was a betting man, however, I would bet that reality ends up being closer to the latter scenario than the former.

Google Glass is definitely intriguing. It is also pretty exciting considering the relative rut that the consumer electronics industry is in right now. It certainly doesn’t seem like a mass-market product though, and I’m not sure it ever will be.
I agree with the opinion given above basically it is a camcorder and for the price
they are selling it for it will not appeal to the mass market and if you are going
to get it for the point of view aspect, you can get cheaper head cams as well.

Now for the extras do you really want information in front of your eyes all the
time, what if it gets hacked do you want to reveal your personal life.

$1500 is maybe because they have more options than the public glasses that they will make later. those options are useful for the developers only and will not affect the glasses they will make for the others. Also those glasses cannot be resale and Google can block them if they found that you did! Also i think that $1500 is a marketing trick. the first people that are going to have them they dont care about the money cost they just like to get them before everybody else and show of.

Re: Google Glass (Explorer Edition)

The goal here for google is to be able to design the glasses to be as close as possible to "normal glasses". As time progresses and microchips and technology gets even smaller, this will be possible and perhaps in 15 years time google glasses will be a trend...

1500€ is 'only' the double of a trendy normal glasses.
I think it will add some awesome features and will be a hit on the market :)

Can't see them selling very many at this price, with the talk of possible hacking and general security of the system, I think people will be reluctant to part with this much cash, especially with the general doom and gloom and no sight of a general upturn.

Regards Mobley3

Let see what it will really do , i have some doubts. I let the crazy buy first and let prices drop before even think to buy it.

Google glasses is a great innovation but it could become "dangerous" in terms of privacy.
Some casinos are prohibiting its use. Regards

There was another article read on cnet and someone mentioned that the battery on google glass only lasts about an hour, so if that's true, then you'll be wearing something you have to constatly turn on/off or take off your head and find a battery charger...

One big challenge with micro electronic is the battery lifetime because battery need more space than others ICs. Google Glass has only a 570 mAh lithium-polymer battery.
For comparison: top smartphones have 2,600 mAh battery and can be use with a display on only for about 4-5 hours.

regards
