SSD HD and windows OS

I'm planning to assembly my new PC.
For this reason, i'm going to evaluate to use HDD with SSD Flash system, together with traditional HD as below described:
1 - SSD 256Gb SATAIII
2 - HD 1Tera SATAIII + HD 1Tera SATAIII configured as Raid 0

On my idea, i will install win7 on the SSD HD, while data will be on the traditional HD.

The Windows system access to "Document and setting" folder very often...

My question is:
Does anybody know if it is possible configure win7 to have this folder on different HD?

In this way i will get the OS on very fast hd for starting up the system very fast, while the folder "document and ..." and "programs" is on the other HD, traditional system storage, to increase the SSD's life.

If you set windows up on two different drives you will have document folders on 2 drives ,that would mean you would have to delete these from your boot drive and every time you want to access the files from the other drive you would have to goto the boot drive to access the files on the second,
You can choose to send files directly to the second drive just like you would from your pc to a flash drive.

For optimum performance Windows7 and SSD drives need the correct setting. SSD Tweak Utility - fine-tune Windows7 for best performance SSD-drives.
This program allows you to check SSD disk, to actions such as installing and configuring SSD.

My object is to get max speed from the system. No dual system on drive. Normally I use BootIt... that on my opinion is better then nany other booting system

My object is to have to driver C: and D: whith the folder as described below:

C:\windows\.... and the file for windows

D:\program files\....
D:\documents and setting\... and user data for application

C: will be on ssd, so very fast on starting
d: will be traditional HD (not a ssd) so no problems with writing and writing reducung the life of ssd system

In the past, i saw an application note on some pages that this was possible, but no more way for me to find again that pages.

Any suggestion???

Putting your personal folders on a separate drive should be standard practice, as this means your data, photos etc, are safe if and when Windows decides it can't boot anymore :)

I wouldn't advise moving the program files from the installation drive as this will break the repair/recover facility in windows when it finds the program files are not where it expects them to be.

Anyway moving your folders can be done as follows:

1. Open the Start menu and click your user name to open the User folder
2. Right-click the personal folder you want to redirect to another location.
3. Select “Properties”
4. Click the tab “Location”
5. Click the button “Move”
6. Browse to the location where you want to redirect this folder. You can select another location on this computer, another drive attached to this computer, or another computer on the network
7. Click the folder where you want to store the files
8. Click the button “Select Folder”
9. Click “OK”
10. In the dialog that appears, click “Yes” to move all the files to the new location.

This procedure works with normal folder...
Are you sure this is OK for "documents and settings" folder? In this folder there are users, data application, desktop configuration.
Did you ever try it?

in windows 7 there's no documents and settings... just the "users" folder

Try this one:

Open Windows explorer and go to documents. Right click on documents, go to properties tab, and select : 'move' ---> and pick you new location.

Should work then :)
