Windows 7 and temp folder problem

Hello,
i got this strange problem on several PC with Win7 OS.

I installed one my application on several PC with win7 32/64 bit professional.
The setup install all the file inside program files folder.
The setup has the privilege to do it.

On some PC got no problem, when executing my application.
On some other, the application looks for some access on .../user/AppData/localdata/temp...

The application is well written and it worked without any problem on SO from Win98 up to XP.

When the problem occurs, i tried to fix it diasbling any antivirus, or any firewall.
More, the problem do not depend on the user, maybe Administrator or guest.

I think this may depend on some virtual folder or sandbox system, but i cannot find the way to manage it or to disable it.

Does anybody has experience on this?

Ciao

Have you tried compatibility manager if it worked in Win XP then you
can try to run it in that mode, just right click the application and
choose troubleshoot compatibility.

When you are installing some applications the data required to install
application are stored in the temp folder which might mean your
application might not have installed correctly, try to install as Admin.

The setup is always executed as admin.
My program looks for some configuration file that are inside the program folder

C:/program files/Mysoftware/data/parametri.pwd

I forced my program to load configuration file from this path...

But when executing it there is such a message...
"cannot open file .../My user/AppData/LocalData/Temp/parametri.pwd".

Of course in that folder the file is not present.

About compatibily, the same binary works fine on XP.
About setup... no error messages during installing the program.
It almost 7 years that this my program worked on previous OS without any problem.

I say it again: these problems appear to me on some win7, while on other it is everything Ok. it is very strange.

There are some little difference between them, but in this moment i cannot figure why and where.

The problem is not upon any antivirus / firewall.
I'm quite sure it is upon the Win7

Ciao

Have you tried going to the file parametri.pwd right click and
the properties and see if access needs to be changed from read only.

Your program is simply not compatable with Windows 7. If you think of some drivers or other softwares there will always be a seperate version of most of the softwares available for different versions of windows.

When windows gives this message it mean there is a file it can not open
if the file was missing it would say it was missing, it may be hidden.
If you can navigate to ./My user/AppData/LocalData/Temp and right
click on the temp folder and then properties and then uncheck read
only and if it ask if you want to include all files and folders then answer
yes, see if this helps.

Re: Windows 7 and temp folder problem

Thanks Microchick..

About compatibility...
I explained that windows 7 has strange behaviur..

Examples... I take any computer, format it and instal win7 OS, just executing the normal procedure .> Next, Next and so on, and then i install my software, I never had problems.
In this condition, my software works correctly ALWAYS.

On the other hand, when I install my software on a customer PC, with win7 already installed, sometimes i got the problem, sometimes no.
Then my question is "dear customer, what did you installe on your machine that prevent my software to work?"
And normally, he said "nothing... it's a standard installation".
Now i fix the problem by formatting and reinstalling the win7, it is not elegant, but i works.

Thanks Mahrkpat..
the setting the property on reading and writing on the folder, was my first tempting.
