win phone 8

Has anyone tried Windows mobile phone from HTC and Nokia any
advantages over it's two main rivals Apple and android?
Early reports are not good:
The new Windows Phone 8 flagship devices have got off to a rocky start,
as some users are reporting issues with random reboots and poor
battery life.
As both makes of phones are affected it seems to be a software bug
which I assume will be fixed soon, but are there any positives? Any
chance of success?

Windows Phones are struggling a bit. Nokia is certainly out classed by samsung. The only advantage of the Windows phone is that you have access to sky drive and all your xbox games from your phone. The app store is not good, there are a few thousand apps available at the moment.

Windows phone 8 is a good idea. (windowss phone os)
Android is a bit too openscource and ios too controlled.
Windows phone is the golden middle but more people are using android.
A disadvantage to the windows phone 8 is that the phone isn't 100% compatible with windows yet even though it's made from microsoft they are still working on it.
just as microchick said the good thing is that you cann acces you xbox profile and and skydrive.

If they are adding so many features and have also ran out of time to add more, does it mean they rushed the release of Win8phone?
Microsoft is currently preparing an update for Windows Phone 8, codenamed Apollo Plus. Sources have confirmed to The Verge that Apollo Plus will bring new features to Windows Phone 8 that weren't fully in scope for the initial release. This won't be the next major version of Windows Phone, but more of a point update to push fixes and features.

We're told that Microsoft is preparing to include VPN support in Windows Phone, a missing option since the reset of Microsoft's mobile OS efforts, that will allow corporate users to connect to work systems — this feature may make it into the first Apollo Plus update. A Wi-Fi connection fix is also planned to let connections always remain on, alongside some audio improvements. Apollo Plus will also test Microsoft's ability to deliver Windows Phone 8 updates over-the-air, a change from the previous OS that required users to plug devices into PCs to get similar updates.

Microsoft has admitted it "ran out of time" on a Notification Center Windows Phone 8 feature addition, and the company will likely push additional features that failed to make the final cut as part of its upcoming update. We're told that Microsoft will be detailing Apollo Plus at Mobile World Congress in February.
No doubt they wanted the phone out before Christmas, so might have rushed it a bit.
Give it time, I'm sure windows phone will come good given the chance.
Look how long it took android to properly find it's feet.

The windows phones aren't as polished and user friendly as iphones. If you want something that works well get an iphone, if you are a bit more technical and like to play around get an android, otherwise get a windows phone

I find the ios is the most polished and most userfriendly os ever.
Easy to handle / use good for older people good for young people.
The windows phone /microsoft wants to try that too but they didn't made it that good that the consumer will like it.
It is made mainly for young people social networking facebook twitter xbox and I think the older people won't like it.
In my opinion older people smooth os user friendly ios, windows phone young people social networking, android = for everyone

Nokia with there Nokia Lumia 920 seem to have gone for the very opposite of what a smart phones design should be, slim and sleek, it is thicker then it's rivals and heavier but it has better apps and camera.
If it is targeting a younger market will that market go for a phone that just looks ugly, my opinion only.

HTC 8X does look like what a smart phone should look like, these days style does matter not just (ugly) technology.

best thing to do is to go to carphonewarehouse or phones4u and have a play with each one to see what you prefer. Try to do simple tasks like adding an alarm or visiting a webpage to see how easy or hard it is before you make a decision

Windows have tried to copy Apples interface design and have complicated their own simplicity. It is not clear enough, too many colours and lack of clarity with what is what. This is where Apple excels and why it is so dominant in the market.

We must wait a time in order to test it, then we'll say if windows phone 8 is a real alternative to android, because I think Iphone plays another league.
Personally nowday, I think win 8 phone O.S. is a very ugly interface and by the moment I prefer Android O.S.
Best regards.

Nokia has just unveiled a brand new Windows Phone at LeWeb today,
the Lumia 620. Nokia's Lumia 620 includes a 3.8-inch ClearBlack
WVGA screen running at 800 x 480 resolution and a Qualcomm S4
1GHz dual-core CPU. Nokia has included a 5-megapixel rear camera
and a front facing VGA one. The device only has 8GB of storage, but
Nokia has opted to support microSD in the Lumia 620.

Nokia will offer the Lumia 620 in seven colors with exchangeable
shells in gloss and matte finishes depending on color. The Lumia
620 will run Windows Phone 8 and include Nokia's exclusive apps.
Nokia claims its latest Lumia is the "most affordable" Windows
Phone 8 device yet. The company is pricing the Lumia 620 at $249
(190 euros).

You'll be able to pick the Lumia 620 up in one of seven colours, with lime green and orange being added to the previously seen cyan, magenta, yellow, black and white options on Nokia's other handsets. Although Nokia has got a big market in Asia and Middle East But It will take a long time for Nokia to restore its reputation.
