In my situasion i really need dyndns account, so is there any one who might have an extra account they dont use anymore on dyndns that have access to the free service :)

know this is....... but i have need for it :D

Hello

It is still possible to get a free account - if you try the Dyndns pro 14 day trial, then cancel it within the 14 day period, they let you keep one hostname free of charge as a thank you for trying out the Pro product

hope this is helpful

no problem my friend, remember reading it somewhere

I checked their website before posting here, the rules are on the Pro trial bit of their website - the way I read it, you should cancel before 14 days expires or they will charge you

True i see it now:

from dyndns.com

When the trial ends

After the 14 day trial, you will be charged our low yearly fee of just $20 a year (or sign up for five years and get 10% off!) to keep your DynDNS Pro service. Only valid major credit cards (not PayPal) are accepted for DynDNS Pro trials.

Decide you no longer want the DynDNS Pro trial? Just cancel your DynDNS Pro trial within 14 days and you will not be charged. You may keep one hostname free of charge for trying out the DynDNS Pro trial.

i will make me one and confirm here whether they hold what they say or no :)

that would be useful to know - I know a lot of routers will only work with dyn, rather than the other providers such as no-ip - I wasted 40 quid on a new router to use with no-ip before I read about the free account workaround for dyn

good luck!

Why not just sign up with No-IP same thing but its completely free, and you dont have to take a rial out either

Re: Need dyndns account

I never had a problem with No-IP.
Dyndns manytimes just cancels the host for few account activity. If you don't go to the dyndns site and enter your account sometimes, it just shutdown the host.
My router also supports only dyndns by default, but with some changes on firmware, I manage to use No-IP.
Try check if router supports DD-Wrt.

True that it needs to be activity on the host otherwise it will be shut down in 30 days if iam not wrong. Using the DD-Wrt firmware is a good idea if your router do support it. take a look here ____dd-wrt.com

If you cant use your router to update dyndns host, you can also install dyndns update client and it will update everytime you public IP changes.
