Re: win beta 8
As a quick recap, the problem at the root of all this is that Windows 8 hardware will come with the Secure Boot technology enabled in the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI), meaning that only operating systems with an appropriate digital signature will be able to boot.
This is very worrying does it mean that dual booting will become a thing of the past?
Or that people who like dual booting either Linux or even a older version of Windows will have to stick to older hardware ?
I like technology and in the future will it mean I will only be restricted to OS that the hardware supplier installs whenI upgrade?

Microsoft is working a lot to stop piracy. Similar news were around for Windows 7 too but geeks cracked it. They are developing new hardware for windows 8 which will have a digital signature. It will also be available on old hardware because there are many versions of windows 8 available. If people want to by Windows 8 on its own then they will difinitely install it on their old hardwares. But its all sound very Confusing.

if the new hardwears are digitally signed then how it will installed on the old hardwears this means the old hardweares will become useless when the windows 8 will launched and old hardwears will works only for xp vista and seven

I am more concerned with new hardware the way I see it is that if the security part that replaces the BIOS will stop installation of any other OS apart from the one that is digitally signed and preinstalled.

Therefore I am wondering how people who buy Win 8 installed hardware will be able to downgrade if they do not like Win 8?

gcms and mahrkpat check this update from cn :)
Current Windows users wanting to take advantage of Microsoft's previously revealed $39.99 upgrade price (which doesn't include DVD media) for Windows 8 still have to wait until October 26 to upgrade online via Windows.com. Users going that route will use the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant in order to get their Windows 8 Pro copies. Most of those who have been testing Windows 8 are eligible to upgrade for $39.99 upgrade.
Customers who bought Windows 7 PCs as of June 2 and who want to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for $14.99 also will have to wait until October 26 to redeem their upgrade offers.
Re: win beta 8

Is it true that Win8 will have a app. shop as android or apple?
I have read that this is true, so perhaps this will be the end of free software for windows.
I don't know so much about it, but it seems to be a restriction to freeware.
Am I mistaked?
Best regards.

All Windows RT apps will have to be purchased through the Windows Store. But don't feel too bad — Apple does the same thing with iPad and iPhone apps. Keep in mind that only RT apps will run on Windows RT devices. (The first MS Surface tablets will run only Windows RT. Surface tablets that run Windows 8 — and thus standard Win8 apps available everywhere — should appear in January.)

I know the Apple politic, but Windows was another thing, different, Windows was the O.S. that let us feel the freedom. But if we are going to be watched, controlled, and will have to buying all the apps. I think win8 will not be succesfully, then, I prefer Apple.
I don't like what's going on....

This is another one of those bizarre gotchas that really make the Windows RT situation complicated. Some of the apps in the Windows Store will work only with Windows 8 machines — they won't work at all on Windows RT. Other Windows Store apps are designed to work with Windows 8 Phones, though it isn't certain whether a Windows Phone app will work on a Windows RT machine. Check before you buy.

You can jail break Apple legally so I am sure some geeks will do similar to Win 8 therefore you will be able to bypass Windows store hopefully.

The two windows Win8 and Win RT sharing a similar name and appearance, many Windows 8 buyers might make a costly mistake, they'll have purchased a Windows RT–based device that's not up to their needs. Windows RT does look and run like Windows 8, but it does not run traditional Windows apps.
