Re: XP on sata, cant load even with driver.

My first attempt to make a nlite disk didnt work and it was my last disk so I am getting some rewriteables and will have another go. In the mean time setting bios to ata and using the f6 method did work but I had to leave the floppy with the sata drivers in the drive.

If you have a usb floppy, or even a floppy, put the mobo sata drivers on the floppy. Then load xp and when asked for extra drivers, F6, it will take them from floppy and load xp. Leave floppy in and at reboot time floppy is accessed again. Mine worked. I had a problem with the hard drive not being formatted properly but it all worked as I described when it was.

Check hd is formatted properly. eg acronis disk director in safe mode will detect sata

To install XP is better doing with a SATA DRIVERS built in XP modified with nlite.
Unnatended XP versions are a lot all over the net. So download a version with SATA drivers, and don't be occuped with floppy or similars.
Anyway I value your answer because all collaboration is wellcome, so thanks and regards.

            Thats what i tried ...

            textmode driver:

So by choosing the driver "ahcix64.inf" nlite asks:
            Raid ControllerX64 platform or
            Raid ControllerX86

by choosing 2nd option "ahcix86.inf" nlite asks the same:
            Raid ControllerX64 platform or
            Raid ControllerX86

System is AMD 64 but XP is 32, so should i choose ahcix86.inf andRaid ControllerX64?

Alternative is a option for regular drivers.
            Please push thanks.

Re: XP on sata, cant load even with driver.

If the problem is because you need windows XP running for some support for software, microsoft do offer a free XP virtual image for Windows 7. So you install Windows 7 and then you just load XP within windows 7. I have used this a few times as some of my old games aren't compatible with windows 7.

Re: XP on sata, cant load even with driver.

yeah, but im installing xp cause of the hardware. Actually its impossible to use it thru virtualization.
