Windows 8 Developer Preview

Been using the Windows 8 Developer Preview since its release on 13th September. After over two weeks of usage - I was getting increasing frustrated with the lack of the Start Menu. For those who know dont Windows 8 doesnt have a start menu anymore. Click on the windows logo now takes you to the new Metro touch screen instead of displaying the Start Menu.

Anyway, my reason for posting. Ive found an application that restores the Startmenu in Windows 8. It makes a registry change and can be turned on/off as you need it.

The program does the following in the Registry:

It switches the RPEnabled string to either 0 (inactive) or 1 (active) under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer

The value 0 enables the start menu, the value 1 disables it again.

Windows 8 Start Menu Toggle can be downloaded from the developer’s Deviant Art website.http://solo-dev.deviantart.com/art/Windows-8-Start-Menu-Toggle-258422929

I think it's too early to try win 8 when win 7 is still landing.
If you have windows 8, Why you want the Start menu in Windows 7?
What about system compatibility, what about performance, what about the drivers, what about to the devices connected to pc?
Please tell us something about it.
Thanks, regards.

I think so, Win7 is a newbie O.S. and have many bugs to solve.
Win 8 must wait.
Regards.

Ok, I will investigate about Win 8. If you say is new and reliable and great perfomance, Ok.
But I think drivers compatibilities will be a problem, or not?

Re: Windows 8 Developer Preview

But it is a full beta version? Or it is a skinned 7 version?
If it is a full version where we can download this beta version in order to try it?
And if you are running this 8 beta version with an Atom procesor, a netbook I imagine, really needs less resources.
I wait your answer my friend.
Regards.

You know, the silence is better if we talk about something unknown.
