    Network password and Windows 7

    Hi,

I've recently done a clean upgrade from XP pro to windows 7 and I have a problem with my network settings. I'm on a BT homehub 2.0 with a Netgear WN311B pci network adapter.

Occasionally the wireless connection drops (not sure why) but I now have to reinput the wireless key to reconnect. This never happened with XP pro when the adapter would reconnect automatically.

Is it the network settings somewhere?

    Thx in advance

Did you try to find Networks Settings on Windows 7? If you don't know where it is, click on "Network and Sharing Center" and there is all settings about network....

Check your network settings to see if you your connection is set to automaic meaning that if it disconects it will automatically reconnect.

Yes it's set to automatically reconnect but it keeps asking for the network key to be reinput before it connects.

Make sure you don't have any networks that will interfere in your priority list and that it is just your own router. Try cycling your router (switching it on and off) but I have a feeling the problem is with the wireless adapter settings installed in your pc which have a problem now that you have installed a new OS. Try a repair function that clears caches etc...

Other thing - if I may be helpfull... look for the drivers - I had a similar problem - the Win7 drivers included in the OS didn't work well, so I had to reinstall them - downloaded from the manufacturer's web site. Maybe you have the same problem if it's a Realtek chipset on your Netgear adapter... Other thing - maybe is stupid for me to ask - have you looked if your pc doesn't enter in hybernation...- it's another packet drop cause - and other cause is the famouse firewall ...

Have you tried contacting BT customer support?
