Hidden partition recovery tool for DELL laptops

    Hi to all,

I'll be interested if someone could help me to find some program to put the hidden recovery partition for the DELL laptops. I was searched over the net and couldn't find it... I have changed the 250GB HDD of my laptop and from Dell I received just the HDD but no other software disks - I have the original instalation disk of the OS but I couldn't remake all the partitions like they were before.

Or another thing would be a great help if anybody has an Inspiron 1720 and could gave the exact partition types and the starting clusters for each partition

    A lot of thanks

Do you still have the recovery partition on the original hard drive?

If yes, use Easeus partition copy and just copy it across to the new drive.
    Technomate TM600 + 1m motorised dish (TM2300 motor).

The old disk is dead, a lot of bad sectors and what's worst is that it doesn't read the track 0 so every time I try to see the disk - it gaves me other number of sectors/tracks an the starting sector.. I tried the Ontrack recovery, the own seagate recovery, and from another identical disk I changed the electronic board ..(from a friend - but it wasn't in a Dell laptop)...

The problem with laptops is that they usually restrict you to only using the original firmware, while the rest - so-called "unauthorised" software - is only available to use at your own risk... I'm afraid if dell haven't got their own tool to sort your hdd out then it's going to be difficult to recover your hdd settings... So at this stage I don't think anything will help to be honest.

Things would have been different ( i mean easier) if you used an external hdd, then there is less risk involved when you change hard drive settings e.g. when changing partition(s) number / size.
