Discussion: which internet browser to choose??

Hi,

With so many web browsers available on the web ( and most of them downloadable free of cgharge), which ones would you guys recommend as the best ?

Is there any point using a few browsers at once, on one computer ?

Let's make it into the few categories:
- safety, protection from malware etc
- usability
- outlook, design, layout,. menu's...
- frequency of updates / addons
- any special unque features which others dont have...

I hope this can turn into a good discussion :)

In terms of security, it is known that mozilla firefox is best due to the famous add on called no script, which allows the user to moniter exactly what is being loaded onto the computer from each webpage.

Me personally, I find google chrome the fastest "feeling" browser due to its ability to render the webpage and display it as it is loading it, making it seem faster. In actual fact its no faster than firefox or IE but they choose to withhold the webpage until it has fully loaded before displaying it. Chrome is also the most lightweight of the 3 browsers Iv mentioned so it runs generally faster with less cpu usage.

With regards to IE, i havent actually managed to test the latest version they have released yet so im interested to hear what people have got to say...

I think firefox is the best overall, but I use Chrome.

It is most user frendly browser

My Choise is definitiv Firefox
+lot of plugins
+very fast
+safe(plugins like Adblock)
+looks good(many themes)
+user friendly

I thinnk Opera because is fast and you can download from torent directly .

Chrome, Mozilla, Opera are fast beaucause they use cache a lot, but this is not good all the time. Thats why they look fast.

For me :

1. Chrome - has a lot to work on CSS compatibility part, they have lots of bugs

2. Opera - is a dead browser, having also lots of bugs and issues in displaying sites

3. Mozilla - is the best choise websites compatibility / security

4. IE - has a high compatibility for websites but is very unsecure

Selection of the viewer is individual: Lame, the Opera, Mozilla, IE all are fulfilling exchanged wymagania...(odziwo IE 8 despite everything is conducting himself całkim decently), but kjak I wrote it very individual choice.

Firefox has been my favourite browser for a long time. But the recent versions include a "plugin-container" process. If a plugin crashes this process is meant to prevent the main firefox process from crashing, therefore keeping your browser open.

The downside of this is it uses a lot more memory, and makes firefox too slow to use on my netbook. So on my netbook I use Chrome.

Thanks a lot for the replies, appreciate your efforts.
I've started the topic because i9've read somewhere that firefox has recently overtaken internet explorer in terms of popularity, and I also read that the two of them are the main choice for 75%-80% of all Windows users, which is ALOT!

I'm personally using both firefox and opera, they provide a good mix.
I'm one of the people who like to bookmark a lot of websites, so I find Opera has the best tool to do it. You only have to type in a key word in a tab bar, and can easily search the webpages. With MF and IE, they are listed in one looong column, so if you have 100+ websites, it takes a long time to scroll down until you find what you're looking for.

A few remarks:
@odysseas1991 - thanks for your info about chrome, it's the one i have yet to test. Speed is one factor i didn't post up there.... but it's important! Many people will hit Back button 10/;15/20 seconds if nothing has been displayed.....
@uttnls - that is a very nice summary of the big 4. I think CHrome is looking very promising for the next few years to come....
@simeno76 - why do you think Lunascape is so much better? I have never heard this name before , until you posted it :).
@sonc - yeah that is the big problem with mozilla. If the plugin installation fails, the whole process has to start again and again. Also you have to use a lot of Ctrl+Alt+Del to get rid of firefox windows which are still opened and only taking up your RAM.

I was a OPERA user for all most 08 years. From last year I am a fan of Google Chrome.
It's speed, user interference are very good.
And another very good thing is the bookmark synchronization in online by using your gmail account. What ever new book mark you added in your chrome browser while at office, it will be available while you are browsing evening from your home !!!!!!!! very good
