I am looking for a good antisniffer software

    Hi all out there,

I need an antisniffer software which is free to protect my inner network traffic from being wathed.ıs there such a tool to encrypt my network traffic?

I have heard of a software called kitty-litter but it seemed very simple and unfunctional to me.

Thank you in advance for your help.

There isnt such software everything you download must go trought your internet provider so they can see everything you download. You just can encrypt something with very strong pass and upload somewhere so they cant crack encryption...

What I mean is not the ISP side protection.I want to protect my computer traffic from suspicious eyes on the same local network.

The only thing I can think of is to create virtual private networks between the computers.

Why do you want to do this?

Because there are suspicious eyes in my own network who want to retreive my private conversations etc (I suspect). So I want to encrypt my local traffic if possible.

              No, absolutely no!

I am not talking about anyone using my computer when I am not around. The thing is, when you use the net, the information incoming and outgoing to and from the internet is passing through the switch. If you use a capture software to capture and inspect those packets, you can see private info such as msn chats, web sites browsed live. What I want to do is to prevent retreival of this information.

This is wrong, think a little about HTTPS, if you download from HTTPS is secure

Secondly you can't do nothing about sniffers in lan, except you use an strong encrypted proxy.

Some users talk about programs that encrypt traffic, ok you have encrypted the traffic, but at the other end is a server that talks with you, the server is unable to decrypt like the sniffer can't, so you have no traffic :))

If you are not the admin of that LAN you can't do nothing about it except using tunneling, VPN or HTTPS
Maybe this is what you need, when you turn this on it doesnt save cookie or any history it is totaly inkognito
You can also use IE "InPrivate browsing" or set Opera or Mozilla Firefox to do that :P
Servers don't talk to you: servers forward from you or to you packets of data: it's not mandatory that the server recognizes the data, it just needs the correct forwarding address. Many P2P programs nowadays encrypt data packets for security, for instance: as long as the source and the destination know how to encrypt/decrypt, that's all it matters.
They forward = talk (much simplier for beginners), and like i mentioned on daily
traffic you have lots of http requests so you can't do anything about this.

The VPN and Tunneling is the only way to avoid sniffers, even https is not so secure like they claim.

Attention VPN and Tunneling in an unmonitorized network, or using the network gateway/server, or it will be useless

if you are using wireless dont use wep encrytion. wep encryption is very easy to crack. but on the other hand wpa encrytion is not so easy to hack if you choose a good and long password. always use wpa encrytion.

He can't do nothing about that beaucause it has no administration rights on network.

Also if you started with Wireless, for being secure always use WPA in conjunction with MAC Fillters

Re: I am looking for a good antisniffer software

Ok friends the concept is a little bit out of focus.

First of all I am not talking about wireless network. So wep or wap is not the issue here.Secondly I am the administrator of the network, that is also not a problem to make any changes to my computer, to the adsl router modem or switch.I can do it.

The problem is, how can I encrypt my traffic not to be intercepted or captured by others on the same LAN? Is VPN really the solution? At the same time I want to be able to use the printers on the LAN and try to be able to access other machines on the same LAN.

So please note this before writing aimless untargeted replies.
                        Thank You.
You could give a try to IIS Anti-leech Sniffer Dog; afaik it encrypts html requests, among many other things.
Other than Kitty Litter is the only tool that I know for this matter. Well, there was also Antisniff, but I doubt it is still developped. Here you can get it: _http://www.securityfocus.com/data/tools/as-1021.zip
It's pretty old, but back at the time it was sort of state of the art.
Zyk this is third time i tell you that he is not the admin on that network and he can't do nothing aboutit, he is not able to use IIS in configuration you think about

Ok my mistake, I'm sorry, tell the man that it has to use another server to do that, and you are right.

Skype if you are the admin you can use a cheapest method :

                            1. Look if your router has Virtual Port capabilities VLAN (also specify your model here)

                            2. You can use a second router to isolate your traffic let's say somthing like this :

You connect your PC line directly to ADSL router

On the ADSL router, on other port you connect a second router

Then on the second router connect the other users on your LAN, and that's it

I think VPN is the only solution for you!
If you want to access other printers in your lan you have to route these specific adresses outside your VPN network. Else it wouldnt communicate with them.
