The Evolution Of The iOS Homescreen

The Evolution Of The iOS Homescreen

It is without a doubt that the iOS homescreen has gone through some small changes over the years, but iOS 7 definitely represents the most radical shift in design since the initial introduction of iOS and the iPhone back in 2007.

One of the biggest differences lies right within the homescreen; probably one of the most frequently accessed areas of your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. The icons have been radically altered and with new additions like animated wallpapers, Parallax and live icons it is hard to imagine what you are looking at is the next-generation of iOS.

      AirDrop
Mac users will cheer the addition of AirDrop in iOS 7, a peer-to-peer file-sharing service that will soon support the iPhone 5, fourth-generation iPad, and iPad Mini.
I think that Apple is opening the antivirus market
Open a lot of possibilities to hack and take data from iphone

Here it is an excellent video that explains how the new iOS 7 features came from:

I personally believe that this futuristic and slick look which you see mainly on androids is taking away from what makes ios unique. The slick and sharp menus is what defines ios for me and by having this new ios7 design throws the iphone back in the same mould as the typical phones that it competes with...
