MS Office coming to iOS devices

An official version of Microsoft Office for iOS devices may be closer than we think. References to various Office apps for iPhone and iPad recently began appearing on different parts of Microsoft's support site, as first spotted by Mac4Ever and detailed in English by MacRumors. Though no actual details are yet available, the (presumably accidental) leaks to these references show that Microsoft indeed has something for iOS in the works.

At this point, it's almost inevitable that the release is coming—it's just a matter of when. Microsoft's French support site references Excel for iPad (while calling it Excel 2013 on the US version), and other parts of the site refer to things like PowerPoint for iPad and Office Mobile for iPhone. For those who can't wait, though, Apple recently released its own update to iWork for iOS, containing boosted compatibility with Office documents created on the Mac.
Is MS finally bowing to the inevitable and porting MS office to Apple devices, the main reason lot of people stick to Windows is MS office.

Tottaly agree with you ,I quote mac rumor with that news
Officially, Microsoft officials have been tight-lipped on the topic of an Office app for iOS. It's an understandable tactic, considering that the giant software company would prefer that all eyes remain glued to the big-ticket debuts of Windows 8 and Surface RT.
But cracks are starting to appear in the wall of secrecy surrounding plans to release a version of the productivity suite that runs on Apple's iPad and iPhone.
Earlier this week, MacRumors reported that a blog called Mac4ever noticed some intriguing new additions to Microsoft's French support site. The site references several Office components running on iOS devices. They include Office Mobile for iPhone, Excel for iPad and PowerPoint for iPad.
That sounds good for me ,microsoft have so many advantages!

Microsoft will have many benefits if it enter inside Apple devices. lets not forget that Microsoft most money comes from software and not from hardware. Apple on the other hand is looking the sales falling down last month so a good co operation with those companies will help them both (and us). Anyway many apps can be found for iOS that allows us to use office.

Re: MS Office coming to iOS devices

In my humble opinion ,it will be a good evolution ,but Apple doesnt care about Excel sheets and it will be very difficult to make a pivot table or a graph with a tactile tablet...
It's interesting for word and powerpoint (just to read).
But be honnest ,if you want to produce something ,it is impossible with an iphone/ipad..

M$ office works for a long time on Mac and even it's possible to install windows on Macintosh. They decided to place office on phone of apple? What for? I can't explain. You need a keyboard to make a text document, IMHO.
On my android phone there is an app that opens word and excel document. So what? I never opened no such document and have no plans to.

                Focus on ios device
I think we are still talking about marketing strategy
You know, Microsoft tries to implement office brand in every support.Even if customer dont care.
Why ? To have in mind Excel,Word,Powerpoint...
If they could do it on nintendo wii ,I think they could develop it

It is more likely for the Ipad you can get separate keyboard .

Until now MS did not want to share so what has changed? Can they see the fall in the Windows based platform market?

There is enough compatability and screen size on a iphone 5s to make a simple enough text document. I believe the pros is simply to open up existing documents and also Microsoft will gain further exposure through the Apple devices and perhaps may even expand onto further apple devices. I guess that they would want to achieve cross platform compatability to be dominant like ****** has done with ****** maps.

They have so many stupit and unuseful apps on the market im sure the Microsoft office whouldnt be a problem. for people that use Microsoft office and like to transfer files from home to work or even show a power point on the projector it will be very helpful.

                        I second that.
Many ipad owners use their ipad like a big screen to check mail.
                        Only for that.

Microsoft can clearly put powerpoint and outlook ,it should be used by Ipad customers!

It's possible to stick keyboard to Dreambox - how many people do it, I mean not only to set up the box, but for everyday use. Even my Viera TV is able to work with usb keyboard.
M$s have to arrange a strategical partnership with Panasonic to port M$ office to Viera TVs!

The ms office will only be helpful on the Ipad.
For companys it will be helpful but I don't think on an Iphone because who will write a article or other things on an Iphone.
On Ipad it could be a hit.

iWork is the easiest way to create documents, spreadsheets, and presentations the Mac way. And it's compatible with Microsoft Office.
