It's very variable ,it depends on security of your key (if you test on your wifi network).
And the dictionary you have will increase or decrease the possibility to crack password (bigger ,better but slower).

        Try backtrack5.
It has alternative tools to that and also haves reaver already built in.
For security testing purposes is the best distro.

I know a little about Reaver, is a WPS WPA decrypter without any dictionary.
This is another possibility to test my router security.
But now I'm trying Spoonwpa and today I have been able to get a handsake and try the internal app. dictionary for a while.
          This subject is very amazing.
          Best regards.

To complete your quest of learning ,there is a good dictionay app which is called Cain
            hxxp://www.oxid.it/cain.html
The latest version is faster and contains a lot of new features like APR (Arp Poison Routing) which enables sniffing on switched LANs and Man-in-the-Middle attacks. The sniffer in this version can also analyze encrypted protocols such as SSH-1 and HTTPS, and contains filters to capture credentials from a wide range of authentication mechanisms. The new version also ships routing protocols authentication monitors and routes extractors, dictionary and brute-force crackers for all common hashing algorithms and for several specific authentications, password/hash calculators, cryptanalysis attacks, password decoders and some not so common utilities related to network and system security.

I have tried to download cain and my antivirus avast considere it as a virus.
Now I'm investigating with WPA WPS router pins.
              I'm learning a lot.
              Best regards.
