    £25, Digicon?

Is that for the Pi? And where did you get it?
They do sound good. I know they can be used for torrents, but has anyone used them for sharing yet?

Intel's (for-profit) version set to be "in the hundreds or thousands"?
You could buy a tablet, laptop or netbook for that!

The price I think is going to be around $400, but I think the the target market is different from the Pi, Pi is mostly education and the NUC more commercial e.g. digital kiosks, electronic signage so the specs. are a quite a bit better.

Therefore for the hobbyist a bit too pricey.

Runs Oscam as a server no problem at all puts the DM500s to shame for sharing duties

The Raspberry Pi Foundation announced it’s launching the “Pi Store” –
an app store created in partnership with IndieCity and Velocix. Anyone
will be able to download and upload their own apps to the Pi Store for
consideration according to Raspberry Pi’s website. The Pi Store will
have 23 free apps at launch as well as paid content. As with the
success of the Raspberry Pi itself, the Pi Store’s success hinges on the
community’s support. The Pi Store can be accessed here:

Did you say that because of the cheap price or because of processor speed/system reliability ?

On the money side I have the impression that building a system for sharing based on Raspberry Pi (base board + sd memory + card reader + psu + case ... did I forget something ?) would be more expensive than buying a dm500s clone.

Just a small addition that the RAM is fixed and you can't upgrade the RAM. Model A comes with 256MB and Model B comes with 512MB RAM.

PC Format Uk edition had a great article on the Pi including some mods. For example placing it in redundant gaming cases to make use of extra usb ports and superior power supplies. It is no coincidence the Model A and B names as that is a memory of the BBC Model A (16k!)and B (32k) systems of my youth,

I got 2 of these, 1 was sent by mistake by the supplier so I kept quiet and kept both of them, I use Rasbmc on both of them, Rasbmc is same as XBMC.

I could not figure out how to install applications on debian linux os so I gave up installed XBMC, and could not find any standalone torrent client for xbmc.

I think tooling them up with a highquality sd card is the best way to go and keeping a back up of the os on a usb stick

I have two of them. One as a media centre, using Openelec. The other one I'm planning to use it at the car but project is in progress.

                        I totally recommend it.

touchscreens but there’s no electronic reason why it shouldn’t work. There’s lots of discussion about this on the forums.....

I use RasPI (B/512/1Ghz) with OpenElac (latest) and a VDR-Server. I got no crashes only the zaptime is not so fast.

I have 3 rasp pi's and think they are great. I got the last one for £31 inc delivery and a nice case (the 512MB RAM version) from Farnell. I am running Raspmbc on all 3 and have a nice setup through my home network. Can thoroughly recommend this great little peice of kit!
