Hello experts...
Please pardon my English
I am new to this forum, and being honest, I don't know if my question makes sense now. Please accept my apologies in advance ..
I used to be a FTA tester for years back in 2000-2008, but I retired from this nice hobby for 5 years (got a new job, was busy and Nagra3 demotivated me :-)). I would like to know how "things" run now. What is the best strategy in the environment, etc. I have read this and other forums since Monday morning. Yes... I know I need to read more and more, and after that more, but if someone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate.
IKS sounds to be the path now for sure, but how?..
This is my history in terms of my FTA experience:
Currently have 3 CWs (600SP and two CW 800s) . Before CW I used to have other junk boxes (forgot those names - used jtag to program their EPROMs). I spent some time working with another expert in CW on reading binary files with assembler years ago, and some good outcomes were produced. But, then I tried to build a IKS server by myself - got the card for BEV/DN, I built an ISO programmer from scratch for fun since the one found online was not so expensive at that time (but since I am Electronic Eng, found the project nice) and used the ISO programmer with some cards + software to build the iks server but without any success. I was close however. I have expertise in Linux, C, C++ and Java and so other programming languages like those that run in Unix, such as KSH, SH, etc.. oh Perl as well.
This OScam confuses me. Not sure what it allows me to do. I know it can run on a Linux based device and it can communicate with some receivers (CW?)r, but not sure about how the rest of the stuff works (EMU, CAM, etc), card sharing with CW, etc.
Also read in another forums something about xx-client and it looks really interesting to me but haven't been able to understand it yet either. So, I am not sure how re-start my hobby.
I am also volunteer for any tests. I have plans to buy a new receiver, but I will need more info.
So, if someone can point me to the right direction in the these-day FTA world, I would appreciate. You can just provide a "string" of "words" to me, like "OScam with XX and kkkk and client CW(other box), etc etc " and I will move forward from there on..
Thank you so much guys..
