Blank cccam.cfg ?

I just got a blank cccam.cfg trying to make some change in it with DCC in my dm500s.
I opened the cccam.cfg file to edit some of the settings, but when I hit the button
to save the file appeared a window that showed the transfer and got stuck there.
I waited for a few minutes and then hit the button to abort the process.

The result was a blank cccam.cfg.
I closed DCC, restarted it again, restarted my box... nothing
The cccam.cfg was blank. Nothing in it.

Of course I had a backup, so the problem was solved
but I want to know why did this happen?

What did I do wrong
what can I do in order to avoid from happening something like that in the future?

Hello kalpikos!
Have to tried to access to your box via ftp ?
It has to be some transfer error and that's why you get a blank file.
In Dcc did you see any size in the cccam.cfg?

I am afraid that there is a random error. Maybe running cccam not allow access to cfg file.

Try to use another version of dcc maybe problem is with program

What is your operative system in the PC?

My box is connected to my pc via ftp.
The size of cccam.cfg it was 0 (blank inside)

cccam allows you to edit cccam.cfg when it's running and I think that there is no problem with that

That's weird.
It crashed somehow and erase the file?
Or maybe you have some scripts that change your cccam.cfg file?
Or have you crash/reboot your box ? (Like when you do a hard reset from windows ,you can crash a file and crash the kernel with missing files).

in my satellite receiver had the same problem, could not do the settings in the folder cccam.cfg, it turned out that the full folder var, I did a clean folder var and the problem was solved.

OK, let's suppose no problem with win7 and any update about it.

Do you have another decoder to try to execute the same procedure with?
Just to see if using a different decoder the problem is still present.

First, keep always an updated backup of your cccam.cfg.
Second, try to repeat the sequence that led to the problem.
If you can't, it must have been a random error nad nobody can tell you when it will happen again.
I wouldn't use use all in one tools such as DCC etc. etc.
My advice is to use single and simple programs (telnet, ssh client, ftp client, setting editor etc.)

I use DCC every day and I edit cccam.cfg many times in a day without any problem.
I open the file, make an edit, save the file... and done.
This problem occoured only one time , the DCC crashed and cccam.cfg that was opened lost all the data.

my var is ok.
There are enough space in it

I believe that it was a random error from DCC.
