please explain ports to be used?

i am new so be gentle, the listen port is 12000 but i have a # before it so I am assuming it is not in use, can i then give any port as a c line or does it have to be same as listen port?

hope that makes sense, in other words can i use a range of ports but if i do must they be entered in ccam as well?

gave a c line but as yet not working but it is different to listen port!!

if it says 12000 you must use 12000 otherwise it won't work.

If you use # in front of any line this line want be active. If you are using the c-lines from Mr. Satlover you have to put the exact same port like the Mr. Satlover gives you.

If you are resharing your own c-line (N-line) then you can configure your own port for examp. 12500 but you will have to make some changes to you router configuation to do this.

I hope this was helpfull to you

Re: please explain ports to be used?

yes it is. i spent a bit of time yesterday figuring a few things out. but when i gave out a line to a friend they still cant connect. i have dns set up and working, got updater in the tray, i have set up port forarding and the log shows the incoming and shows a rule match with the db500s, i have 2 spider boxes that i gave f lines to and these connect immediately, i have external c line that connects ok on both spders(not at same time) i use ccam2.3.0 in db500s, i then switched on card server as well still no joy and finally i cant connect to c line from friend it shows connect 0 cards, then goes to disconect. If I can sort this one I will have cracked it.

I think it does not matter if i use c line or f line for internal share but i switched it off anayway ie use the # . Can you spot what I might be doing wrong?

no probs then, i think you might have to open another port on your router, no doubt youve read about that.
have you checked this, wizardmods.net plenty tutorials there.
