          ECM = Entitlement Control Message

The ECM holds 2 encrypted Control Words (CW)

CW are decrypted by the card, using EMMs.

EMM's are changed usualy every month or weekly

In weekly case the card holds keys for the current week and the next one.

The 2 decrypted CWs, are kept in to the receiver, and they rotate every 15-30 seconds, and for N*S which is a pain they rotate faster, something to 9-10 seconds

Two CW being kept in reciver you can miss one ECM without freezing, because you always have the next needed key

In card-sharing in fact only the decrypted CW's are sent, and ofcourse other needed things like EMM's (so you won't have to insert every week/month the card in original box for AU)

EMM's is the reason infact for using AU or need to periodicaly have to insert the cards in original boxes

          Have fun !

The instructions that the providers send to the smart cards, encrypted in some way. The smart cards decrypt them to get the DCWs to open the scrambled channels of the bouquets. In the cardsharing scene, these are what the clients send to the cardservers, to get back from them the correct DCWs to descramble the channels to watch.
Usually, not always, you get a new ECM every 10 seconds on the same channel, therefore there are 360 ECMs every hour per channel.
Ten channels equal 3600 ECMs every hour, and so on...
          Didn't mention decrypted CW's = DCW )

Thanks Zyk, after reading your post i've remembered that i've missed to specify that

            1 ECM = 1 channel every 10 sec

And if you put a good channelinfo file in your /var/etc you'll see the exact channel that it was used, without searching on internet, and also you'll see the channels that active C lines are on )

Don't say, and what you do with N*S ?

In 10 seconds you see one image and lose two ))
Is there a major difference between the transmission ECM and use DCW.
NDS must be less than 0.6 seconds the other systems is less than 8 seconds.
