Help please!

Hi,

I have a Spiderbox HD9000 and my gift expired at the end of last year. By googling I came across this incredible and helpful site and slowly, I've been learning about card sharing. Recently, I bought a cline that was working perfectly for me, however, the person who sold it to me got his computer hacked and his server went down as a result. He's given me a new cline but it doesn't work in my Spiderbox and we've been trying new IP address, passwords and IDs but it still isn't working.

He's double check everything at his end and says the problem should be at my end. He suggested I updated my receiver with the latest software, but it already has the latest version that came up inmid November last year. The only thing I could update was the softcam, but nothing changed.

Have you got any ideas what canbe happening and how I could fix the problem?

If the previous line has work i dont see reason why this line to not work.If your deliver give you corect username and password u will conect.Are u sure its give you good c-line.Do u trust him?

Well, the previous cline worked for over 2 months. Suddently it stopped working and when I contacted the person who sold it to me mentioned the hacking and that his server was down. He then fix it and informed me of a change in the first part of the cline (IP address in my box). Then when it didn't work he changed the ID and password, but it still doesn't work.

I don't know the guy but he seems very trustworthy and always replies to my emails very quickly.

i think you shall try a new dyndns address and give it to the guy
then he can create a new cline whit that
i am not sure it will work but give it a try
also remember to give your box permission in your router
that's what i will try first
cos i don't know spider boxes and there's setup

just a thought,
have you tried a test line from another server, or the free ones here, surely if they work it must be the servers end.
i use spiderbox7000

Have you tried rebooting both your box and router? sometimes something as simple at that solves connecting problems.

Try one of the free clines on here. As you only have a few posts it'll probably be glitchy but if you log on here at about 4p.m. when free clines are updated. Give it a try, that way, if it works, you know your setup is fine.

Hi Toby, I'm still here. On most days but haven't posted for a while.
I see you are a Mod now. Well done you M8.
Another thing I would say to pmrshll is to make sure every thing is entered correctly it's easy to get a "." or a "-" or a "_" mixed up. I've done it in the past.

send your cline to someone and see if it works, if it work ask the server if he can change user and pass of your line and you will know that the problem is on your box.

I really appreciate all your suggestions. Sorry I've not replied before, I lost my internet connection after I started this thread and only been able to get it back today. I'll carry out all your suggestions and see it I get the cline to work again.

Hi, I'm back to report that my cline is working again. When I tried rebooting both the receiver and the modem/router as per one of the suggestions above, I found out that one of the 'home plugs' I use to connect the receiver to the internet had blown up. I hadn't noticed this because the plug was underneath the TV unit and it never occurred to me to start checking there. Cheers

I'd never been able to make any of the free clines from Server 3 work. So, I went through the whole 23 pages of the thread 'Free Servers FAQ & Answers' and found an interesting thing. One of the posts (#203) suggested to turn off the Service Plus (now Home Plus I believe) and Ethernet fields on the Spiderbox. So I did this and the free cline started working for a while.

Can anybody confirm if this was just a coincidence, or whether the Spiderbox settings should be as suggested above?

on that certain box, service+ finished some time ago, now called ethernet.

a bit late, but what helped me before is to install the latest software of the router (especially with d-l*nk routers)!

Hi, if you still have ethernet working then yes you should turn it off for no conflicts and better performance. If you don't have ethernet working still it should be off anyway! Always best to turn everything else off when you are trying to get something working to remove conflicts.
