how do i acess box without password

hi,
I know there is tutorials on this but they do not say how to access the menu when the menu does not come up.

My box must have been modified using the open pli, so now it does not allow me to enter any setup using blue or menu button (must be disabled) because the remote works from another eagle box ( both are dreambox clone)

any help guys appreciated.

For ftp, its 'root' in the username and keep password blank

"You have to change the passwd , using dcc:
user name is root you can leave password blank then go to telnet type in passwd then you can change your password for xample to dreambox. also you will need to reenter it ,then you will now need to type in your new password to the password colum then reconnect goodluck."

I have tried dcc.
when I go into telnet this is what it says:

clear

***Server has closed***
Login incorrect
dm500 login: password:


then nothing when I type nothing shows

In the PROTOCOL section in DCC it says :

Telnet connected
FTP connected

Bootmanager: not found.
Telnet disconnected
Telnet login incorrect!

Can you advise what to do

I think that if you don't remember the password the only way is to reinstall a new image.
After that, you will have the default user/password (root/dreambox).

1) Install TuxCom plugin
2) Run it from Yellow button
3) Point to /var/etc/passwd
4) Υou can easily blank out root password to gain full access to the box

Now you have erased the password that you see in the root line and becomes root::0:0::/:/bin/sh
You can telnet your dreambox now and give your new password

vimmers: where can i download the tuxcom from.
how do i install this to the box when I cannot get into the install command or any command.

The yellow button asks for a code or pin number so I can't get into that either.
if i install tuxcom on my computer wil it connect to the dreambox without using a password?

I know that a new image will erase all from dreambox, but I didn't know that there is another way to do it. I am a total newbie !
Now, I am also interested in knowing where to download tuxcom, it can be useful in the future for me

sorry to go on but my main problem is that I can't get into the blue panel because the guy I bought the box from must have done something that prevents the blue panel coming up. the image on it is open pli.

so therefore I have to try and enter only through the software,telnet, ftp, or direct rs232 connection if possible.

I have another box in another room but this was bought as a FTA and I am able to get into the blue panel plugins etc.

is it possible to download the tuxcom and install on computer?
and update from there?

yes you can dl tuxcom trough pc
but that doesn't help you cos you don't know the password
can't you press menu/plugins on the remote
if not i don't see any other way to reinstall as suggested
or get the password where you bought the box

dont think this will help but just suggestion, my box you have to factory reset an pwd is 0000. would be lot of work for you.

where is the factory reset?

if it is to do with the blue panel by remote than I can't do that as it does not allow me to enter the blue or yellow button and nt even through the DCC because it wants a password.

if its a manual button located somewhere on the box please advise.
