How to Make Null modem

How to use the handshaking lines in a null modem configuration? The simplest way is to don't use them at all. In that situation, only the data lines and signal ground are cross connected in the null modem communication cable. All other pins have no connection.

Data from PC to STB

1. Download loader
2. Shutdown pc and stb
3. Connect stb and pc with rs232
4. Start pc
5. Open loader
6. select proper com port.
7. select "Program download mode" frm dropdown menu in loader.
8. click on start.
9. select *.*bin from its
destination.
10. start stb.
11. downloading starts showing progress both in
loader and stb.
12. close when done.
13. disconnect stb securely.

It's not worth to make them self, you can get them everywhere for about 5 €

handshaking is an automated process of negotiation that dynamically sets parameters of a communications channel established between two entities before normal communication over the channel begins. It follows the physical establishment of the channel and precedes normal information transfer

To upgrade Firmware (in a Decoder) there is no need to have 'full handshaking' method.

Mostly the main advantage of this cable is that there are two signalling lines in each direction at all times.

This makes it possible to achieve very high communication speeds with this type of null modem cable, provided that the software has been designed for it
