check if provider blocks your ports

my friend can NOT get open ports working with his Canyon router.
we've tried everything also some port checkers but port (even if web 80) can not get open.

is there some definitive test for open ports that we can be sure provider blocks ?

he's got no static IP. we've tried also dyndns but no help.

Re: check if provider blocks your ports

my friend has got only dyn IP.
on router we've open 80 port.
      localhost displays local web.
windows FW and antivir FW are switched off.

      but no help.

so I suppose only solution is to buy external IP.
      then ports should be open.

Put "are my ports open" into ****** and be happy.

Enable uPnP and you will never have to worry about opening or closing ports again.

What's the model name of your canyon router ?

I'm selling canyon router at my store and all have DMZ option.

So you can simply choose DMZ with the Ip of your box

                    On your router web config.

                    Click the button general setup.
You find this button on the left of the page.
                    Click the link named nat.

In this menu click Virtual Server

put a checkmark in the Enable Virtual Server checkbox.

Enter the other fields as follows:
Private IP The local IP address of your pc/box
Private Port The port number you want top open (ex:80)

Your Pc/box have now the port (in this exemple 80) Opened.

Assuming your box/pc is on the same subnet thn your router.

Dont forget to setup your box/pc with a static IP adresse !

Re: check if provider blocks your ports

Like picture , port forwaring is similar than virtual server.

Port forwarding is for a port range (ex :80~85)

Virtual server are for single port forwarding (ex:80)

the 2 work as same , but using virtual server in this case is more secure
