    Amount of traffic on sharing

    Hi,

Can anyone help me please - I have a 10Mbit ADSL line - the upload is poor (780kbs - almost 100kbyte), and my question is if someone knows what bandwith is "eated" by 1 F line?
I need this to know if is possible how many connexion could I have whith this bandwith.

    Thanks in advanced...

    Bye

Re: Amount of traffic on sharing

if your talking about server and you exchange with the others i think it's unlimited ,otherwise for the client (use without exchange) it doesn't exceed the 20 Clines
in a general way, sharing don't use up lot of bandwidth but having lot of peers can make some troubles in the sharing system

use quality before quantity its better to have 2 good peers from 20 bad ho use alot bandwitch and "eat" your mb's.

Or, to give a more direct answer: A new DCW is asked for every 30 seconds. A DCW is small, so the amount of traffic depends only on the minimum packet size set by your network parameters, which will be around 2 kByte.

So one F-line serving only 1 friend would eat away approx. 0.1% of the available bandwidth.

Thanks - I will make some tests to see if you're right... but I need to send the dcw - and it has an x amount of kb... no??

Hi your bandwith is enough for cardsharing, but you need to keep it all the time free for freezfree sharing. If you download or upload something than will be tight.

I have made alot of queries for this issue and I found that with a 0.38mb upload is more than enough to support perfect streaming. In fact only a heavy download user or an upload user will affect the connection. However, on the really fast packages, you need the 0.38mb upload to be free (for me anyway, whereas you have double what I have) from other user otherwise you will recieve small glitches here or there. If at any time your internet bandwitdth is completely free and only in use by your reciever, then your problem lies with the server and there is nothing you can do about that until it fixes.

Thanks man - in this moment I have 5 active clients and mine are 3 strong peers and there are a lot of glitches... So I need to narrow the F...riends lines... I called the ISP and for particular use they don't give me much juice...

                    Thatks again...

Doesn't that depend on the package provider?

Now I'm totally confused... at the beggining I have narrowed the F.. fiends lines, my peers are strong (actually I have 5 ) and the glitches were still there... then when I saw that there are no improvements I decided to add a few more F connections to see what's happening (now there are 9 of them - but never saw more than 7 connected at the same time) and now the glitches are gone... I don't understand - no changes and it works... maybe Casper is in my DM800HD???.. Any logical explanation???
