difference between rs232 and null cable

rs232 has 3 wires conection and null has more.I flash images with rs232 cable but what about null cable

A null cable is a RS-232 cable.

Simple RS232 null modem without handshaking is the one having 3 wires

What you have in the picture is an RS232 null modem with full handshaking (that's why it uses more then 3 lines)

If you want more information just tell and i'll explain what those lines mean. I just don't want to be boring :P

i want to know is good for flahing with 3 wires becouse i have that one and i have problems with flasing.Maybe is not cable but i need to be sure.When i flash only see uploading complete, waiting for acknowledge and im stuck here

Is the cable, you don't have necesary connection and so without hanshaking it will never work beaucause you don't have any kind of flow control between the PC and the Receiver, unless the receiver is software flow control XON-XOFF capable.

As far as i know dreambox isn't, so you need a full handshake cable like in picture posted by you :P

Yes that is the ideea, most users think that they need an "RS232" cable, but the cables can be with handshake or without, with loopback or without, so they often blame the recivers when they fail to write a image, but is in fact a fault generated by the cable

Use Dreamup for dreambox and rs232 cable indicated by you, also upload again the picture beaucause it was lost when the servers were relocated, it also happened in a few posts to me

I have a self made null-modem cable. I made it by myself and used just the tree cables

2 --> 3
3 --> 2
5 --> 5 GND

it work very fine and help me to flash the dbox 2 because I couldn't connect per ftp cable. I also used it with my neotionbox.

I know what you mean, but that three wires cable of yours it won't work to flash a dreambox, things are a little diffrent, read the entire thread with explanations and you'll figure out why

i read yesterday for d9 null must be conected and wire 1 with wire 6 not 1 to be empty,
