    Live links

I have a question about live links.
I realy dont understand how shuld I post them and what are live links.

I generali put links in code and this is it, I mean like this

    Code:
    like this
but I see that lot of guys masking they links like this

and some of them do only this h*tp://www.satlover.com/forum/

So what is right thing to do?

I know that I have 600+ posts and I dont know this but none ever warn me and I think it is good to post links to code.

    Re: Live links

I think livelink is the possibility direct by one click to come on the linked side . in many forums the admin donot want that the linked side recognizes the origin. if you write the link manually in your browser the side operator of the linked side can not recognize from where you came.
So your coded link is OK, imho.

From my understanding, links are fine on the forum provided they do not link back to another satellite related forum. Ultimately it would take traffic away from the satlover site.

          Re: Live links

use underscore or other symbol to not have a direct link :

          for example _http://******.com

            Re: Live links

            The rules say:

"Please do not post live links to ANY external sites whatsoever , disable the links by using an underscore as in the following _http://www.example.com"

If you use the "insert link" icon to insert a URL, and put an underscore in front of the text, that would still be a live link, as clicking on it still takes you to an external site.

Probably the safest way is not to use "insert link", but just paste the link in as plain text with an underscore in front. Or use the CODE tags instead as zoran says.

              Re: Live links

i think that the hot-linking takes part from the host site in our case satlover and every time someone click on it ( similarly for images ) the bandwidth is consumed ... when the bandwidth limit is exceeded ,the site-web goes down

                Re: Live links

I see there is again problem with live links, and that moderators insert _ in code

                this is not live link

                Code:
                www.satlover.com
and there is no reason for doing this when code automaticly disable live links.

                Code:
                _www.satlover.com
                _www.satlover.com

this is harder to other members who whant to copy this link because he need to select link without _, and if you use code then he just need to pres left mouse button 3 times fast.
