    Avoid duplicates/double threads

    Hi all,

Please try to avoid posting the same threads more than once. Look if the thread isn't already posted in the section you want to post your thread.
Duplicate threads aren't usefull, they only take extra space on the website and will be deleted.
    Thank you for your understanding.

    regards

    Re: Avoid duplicates/double threads

Would it help if we click on "Report Post" if we find a duplicate post, or should we just leave it to you guys?

Report it. If someone has been posting duplicate threads, they are just building their post counters rather than actually contributing anything (it jsut shows they don't look before they post).

        Yep I agree with Tony.

I would say both, as there is no need to have multiple copies.

Most duplicates are from a second user who hasn't bothered checking if what they are about to post is already there. Although 2 people could also post the same thing at the same time.

On another forum I've seen a button to check if what you are posting has already been posted.

I'm not sure how good it is (and it's only available for new threads, not replies), but if its something easy to implement, then it may be useful.

I think it only compares title/head and not the content. If it's so, it isn't that usefull as title isn't the same most of the time but content is.
But it's a good idea to start with. Thx for the help sonc

There is a option to just search Titles Only, so it should also search content if unselected - see pic.

You are right sonc, there are search options, this indeed could be very usefull.
As you found this while surfing on the web and gave us info about this possibility, I propose you send pm to mister satlover with this info.
Maybe he will ad this function to satlovers website.
                          Thx again for your input
