    Truman TM150 USB

    Truman TM150 USB

Dish Channels had published Truman test reports many times. This time we're introducing a Truman TM150 USB (USB series) receiver using the new DVB S2 system and thus being the first box with this advanced system we were able to test. Truman TM150 USB has emerged as a leader in the digital satellite industry. The company is famous worldwide for manufacturing outstanding receivers.

The front panel buttons of the receiver is used for various functions. The front panel is equipped with Standby, menu, volume, channel up and down, ok and remote sensor buttons are located. On the perfectly equipped rear panel, it include two scart connectors, programmable 12 volt output, serial interface RS-232 for uploading a receiver software, USB port, RCA jacks and a power button.

The remote control that is included in the package has a good feel when held in hand, features a convenient key layout and has English lettering, because we tested the model.

To start your receiver for the first time, you must select the language for displaying menus and you should set parameters for system configuration and scan satellite channels. Truman TM150 USB has the capacity to store 4000 TV and Radio channels.

Truman supports DiSEqC 1.0 and 1.2. All the local oscillator frequencies for C and Ku-band are preprogrammed. Reception of SCPC signals will really made your surprise.

The next set up is system setup. Here you will have to choose the TV type, Scart RGB, positioner, LNB reference and time. The receiver supports the TV picture in 4:3 and 16:9 format. It switches automatically between PAL and NTSC. The next step would be the satellites you want to receive. After the satellite selection, the channel scanning process will take place. The automatic channel scan can be set to search only for FTA or all channels.1420 TV and 735 Radio channels were found in 3 minutes and 5 seconds. After the complete scanning, the receiver first save the all channels and then turns on the first channel found.

The EPG of the Truman TM150 USB is another outstanding feature of this receiver. All event details of most channels are quickly loaded and displayed either as a chart for several channels or for each individual channel. At first the receiver shows an overview of all days for which information is available, and when clicking on an available date the programme preview is displayed. Thanks to this clever design the EPG is extraordinarily clear and concise, making sure even beginners will quickly learn how to use it.

The user interface of the Truman is simply exemplary ? they could not have done it any better in terms of ease of use and clarity. The channel list is very cleverly arranged as well, with four areas and two columns, so that channels of a specific satellite, of the favourite list or pay TV channels can be displayed at a touch of one of the colour-coded buttons on the remote control.

Switching between channels takes almost three seconds, making the Truman a rather slow fellow ? the manufacturer has promised to improve that performance, however. After switching to a new channel an info bar is inserted with details about the current programme. Unfortunately there are no details regarding the programme that is coming up next. Channels that you watch often can be moved in to one of the favourite lists so that they are easier to keep in touch. There is also a parental control function that will fortunately keep your kids away from ***** channels.

In Manual scanning process, you can scan channels of the selected satellites by transponders if you know the transponder information. You can enjoy not only scrambled services using the Conditional Access Modules (CAM), but also free to air services. Types of common interface modules and smart card differ depending on the service provider.

A push of the info button on the remote control shows the channel name, channel number, encryption status, satellite name and current time on the bottom of the screen. You may get the same information while changing from one channel to another. These information will be displayed for a while on your screen. Pressing the OK button will display a channel list on your screen with the current channel in the right side window.

You can upgrade the software from USB conveniently, press OK button to enter.

In this menu, you can select the Upgrade Mode among programme mode. In the USB menu, you can check the files and folders of the USB storage and you can view JPEG files. The onscreen picture may be brought closer by pressing the zoom button. This receiver has also multipicture display function
