Installation of the Dish Network pointing satellite doesn't require the help of a professional satellite installer. You can perform Dish Network satellite installation in your home using a power drill and the included satellite receiver, bolts and RCA cable. No other items are necessary, and you do not need any previous experience installing satellites or working with Dish Network devices. With the use of the receiver's signal meter screen, you'll be able to accurately point your satellite to receive an optimal signal.
Things You'll Need:
* Power drill
* Bolts
* Satellite receiver
* RCA cable
Instructions
1.Check over the prospective mounting site for the Dish Network pointing satellite and make sure it is free of debris. The mounting site should have a flush, or level, surface.
2.Mount the Dish Network satellite by using a power drill and the included bolts. There will be pre-set mounting holes for the bolts at the bottom of the Dish Network satellite's base.
3.Point the Dish Network satellite to the southern part of the sky if you live in the northern hemisphere, or to the northern part of the sky if you live in the southern hemisphere.
4.Connect the coaxial cable to the satellite receiver. The satellite receiver is included in your Dish Network package and should be set up near your TV. The coaxial cable comes out of the back of the Dish Network satellite's mast. Run it inside and connect it into the "ANT IN" port on the rear of the receiver.
5.Connect the Dish Network receiver to your TV using the included RCA cable. The cable has two sets of prongs on either end, with each set consisting of a red, yellow and white prong (six prongs total on the cable). Plug one set into the back of the receiver and the other set into the back of the TV. There will be color-corresponding red, yellow and white RCA ports on the back of both devices that accommodate these prongs.
6.Turn on your TV and power on your receiver, giving it a moment to boot up. The receiver's menu will appear on your TV. Choose the "Signal Meter Screen" selection from the menu. This meter will gauge the adjustments you make to your Dish Network satellite in real-time.
7. Leave a friend with the Signal Meter Screen if possible to provide updates on signal strength. Return to the dish outside.
8.Adjust the Dish Network satellite by making up/down (elevation) adjustments to the dish. After each gradual up/down adjustment, wait five to 10 seconds for an update from the Signal Meter Screen. The screen will judge your adjustments and provide feedback that will help you find a strong satellite signal.
9.Adjust the Dish Network satellite by making left/right (azimuth) adjustments to the dish.
