Eutelsat renames fleet under one brand
The likes of ATLANTIC BIRD, EUROBIRD, HOT BIRD, SESAT and EUROBIRD will be no more following a major brand unification campaign by Eutelsat.
The leading satellite operator will be classing the names of its fleet around the Eutelsat brand with craft taking Eutelsat name associated with the relevant figure for their orbital position and a letter indicating their order of arrival at that position.
The new system has been devised to support Eutelsat's efforts to communicate its satellite branding and deployment in a consistent and homogenous way. In an example of the new nomenclature, W6 at 21.5° East will become EUTELSAT 21A; ATLANTIC BIRD 2 will become EUTELSAT 8 West A; HOT BIRD 6 will become EUTELSAT HOT BIRD 13A.
